Arteus is blessed to have a dad like Kratos. He doesn't want him to go through the same hardship he did and it's working.

I appreciate the way Kratos describes Sparta. On one hand, the hardship he endured transformed Spartan citizens into the finest warriors, but on the other you can tell he’s aware that this isn’t how children should be raised.

Note: eventhough kratos doesn't really like the way spartan had risen kids he still loves Sparta because of the culture, food, drinks etc as he said before. He also understands that Spartans were only raised that way for their own good. Sparta was one of the smaller cities in Greece so they had to make sure they had tough warriors to make up for it if not they would've been overthrown long ago.

But Atreus of Sparta wore a smile even in the worst of times. He was happy...

"did you not think i could handle spartan training?"
"boi, when we were at alfheim, i was gone for a few hours, i come back and i see you standing next to a mountain of dead elves."

Reminds me of the Shadows of Reach novel where Master Chief has similar sentiments of how Spartans are made
"John was proud of his service, but he wouldn't wish what happened to him on anyone's child."

It hits harder when you realize that part of Spartan training involved killing and brutalizing helots, the slave class of Sparta. Spartans trained so hard because they were in constant danger of helot revolt, and inflicted brutal measures to keep them in line, including (possibly) annual massacres by Spartan soldiers. Having had a yoke around his own neck, I don't think Kratos remembers those days fondly.

Glad they didn’t glorify Sparta here. They were actually terrible people.

This game better win GOTY this time around, they were robbed in '18, if they don't win something is definitely wrong.

Edit: I totally messed up. @Rick Sanchez corrected me which I appreciate I'm not above owning my mistakes. I confused another game Last of Us part 2 as the game that won in 2018 but they won in 2020 and GoW 2018 did indeed win 2018. In my mind I thought they didn't but yea, I'll accept my L like a man.
