Kratos has a habit of being the 'backup guy' for a prophecy. Guess that's the best part about prophecies often being just vague enough that another can potentially fulfill its conditions.

The best part is this is EXACTLY how Greek prophecies were used in plays and stories. The prophecy is always correct, but never comprehensive. The reason for why the prophecy is the way that it is (and thus tragic) is because everyone responds to it with wrongful assumptions.

This goes hand in hand with the prophecy of the boy with tattoos that was suppoused to kill Zeus. Because Ares and Athena thought it was Deimos but after they took him Kratos got similar tattoos inspired by his brother, and later he killed Zeus.

"So the Oracle herself brought about the very future she hoped to avoid."

Greek Mythology. That's just Greek Mythology in general. Right there, he summarized so much.

Kratos being a lot more open about his past, is character progression and development at its very peak.

The best interaction was talking about how time travel sucks and was amusing to see Mimir react that Kratos has personal experience about them.

I like how Kratos is much more open about his past now than in the previous game, even willing to share whole stories, while before he'd only grunt or give one word responses to any questions about Greece

For those who haven't played the previous titles, the world in god of war has magic that is in everyone and everything to some finite degree, the sister of fate essentiallly woven a magical string out that connect to magic itself, legit a fabric of time and space, that allows them to then predicate events

I love how even though Mimir is the smartest person(or head I suppose) alive he is constantly trying to learn more and more to expand his knowledge

What fascinates me about this is the feeling of every mythology being apart only by geography and not by logic or universe. I always wondered if Odin and Zeus and Raa (as an example) were friends, had agendas and histories together

To be fair, Ares was also responsible for the doom of Olympus in his own way.

Fate: *tries to tell Kratos he will die*
Kratos: Who decided that? Only I decide such things!

I like the callback to GOW Ascension when he said “I sought the oracle to break my bondage to ares” the continuity is astonishing.

I really like how this game tackles the theme of fate and prophecy. Essentially prophecies are less "inevitable outcomes destined by fate" and more "very strong and accurate predictions based on people's natures". This also helps explain why prophecies tend to be pretty vague. While you may not be able to say exactly what happens, you can guess by somebody's nature how certain outcomes would occur and thus seem inevitable. Therefore the only real way to change your fate is to change yourself.

I think this is the exact same thing that happened with the prophecy of Tyr leading the armies to Ragnarok. I think it was foretold that "The God of War" would lead the armies to Ragnarok. Somewhere down the line, someone replaced "God of War" with "Tyr", because, of course, why would you consider any other God of War? At the end of the day, *a* God of War led the armies of the 9 realms to Ragnarok, it just wasn't the one that everyone was expecting it to be.

Why are all the best parts of the game hidden in the quiet moments. So good.

The thing I love about the god of war is that not only are all games connected, it all brings up details from previous games, even including That one Mortal Kombat Dlc
