If I recall, Spartan children were expected to steal some of what they needed in order to survive The Agoge. If they got found out, they were punished severally...not because they stole, but because they weren't good enough to not get caught.

This speech is full of "back in my day..." energy.

Kratos: back in my day we had to walk 20 miles in the snow. Up hill and down.

Damn. And just think if all it took for the Joker to become what he is was one bad day, then Sparta would have destroyed and killed him in a fraction of a second.

Well freya has to feel some type of sympathy for kratos for that the spartants basically born raised child soldiers hence their conception
So whats the schedule

I wonder when we will get to hear Kratos tell the story of the time he was summoned to a tournament and saved Earthrealm.

At the age of 7, Spartan boys were removed from their parents’ homes and began the “agoge, ” a state-sponsored training regimen designed to mold them into skilled warriors and moral citizens. Separated from their families and housed in communal barracks, the young soldiers-in-waiting were instructed in scholastics, warfare, stealth, hunting, and athletics. At age 12, initiates were deprived of all clothing save for a red cloak and forced to sleep outside and make their own beds from reeds. To ready them for a life in the field, the boy soldiers were also encouraged to scavenge and even steal their food, though if detected they were punished with floggings. Life in Sparta was one of simplicity and self-denial. Children were children of the state more than of their parents. They were raised to be soldiers, loyal to the state, strong and self-disciplined. When a Spartan baby was born, soldiers came to the house and examined it carefully to determine its strength.

I wonder if this happened before or after Deimos was taken when they were children.

Kratos is already a tough and slightly older kid when we see him training Deimos in Ghost of Sparta's flashbacks, so maybe he's already survived the Agoge and came home? Maybe it's the Agoge he's training Deimos for?

The most unrealistic and mythical bit of all these games is the myth of Spartan military excellence and warrior society
