Funnily enough, Kratos not being chosen as one of the 300 makes perfect sense, when picking his 300 soldiers, Leonidas only picked ones with male heirs so that their bloodlines could continue since he knew all 300 of them would die, and kratos’s only child at the time was a daughter, so he would have been passed over as part of the 300

Wow that line really hits home how amazing of a father Kratos is. “Father what was spartan training like?” “Unforgiving” “is that why you didn’t train me like one, you though I couldn’t handle it?” “I didn’t believe you should have to.”

“I didn’t think you should have to.” Speaks volumes as to how difficult it was

I like how Kratos is a proper Spartan and speaks plainly. That simple mode of speech belies his formidable intelligence.

Kratos defending how his people wrote stories is oddly heartwarming. To think that the God of War read and watched plays in his spare time.

The story of Kratos wanting to die with Leonidas gives even more meaning to the beginning of Chains of Olympus.

Kratos opening about his past and experience is a good take on how to tell a character is developing.

Interesting Atreus seems to sometimes want the grueling training Kratos endured as a Spartan for the sake of being strong enough to hold his own but Kratos is training him to survive not to fight it’s a cool contrast to see

He also said a narrow pathway gives an advantage to a smaller number which is another reference as the Spartans fought in a narrow path against the Persians

As a person who has struggled most of his life with an explosive temper, seeing how Kratos has grown really proves that anger can be overcome

Seems to be some confusion among some people about the reference to Leonidas. The "Hot Gates" is Thermopylae, the place where Leonidas and his 300 (plus several thousand others) made their stand. That's what Thermopylae means. Literally Thermo: Hot and Pylae: Gates.

"It is Greek tradition for a story to unfold in a single time and place, uninterupted" amazing line considering both of these games were made to be a single shot.

"your fate was sealed from the start"
*and kratos took it personally*

As a Greek i really appreciate all the effort put by the developers to make those little chats/references about Greek culture

I always wondered when Kratos had Calliope, he was relieved that she did not had to endure Spartan training
