Science says eating just one meal per day can improve your health.

-----

After years of prescribing insulin to diabetic patients, Dr. Hallberg realized there has to be a better way.

She transformed her practice and medical advice to incorporate lifestyle-based medicine and is now working with the VirtaHealth team---putting the low-carb ketogenic diet to the test and publishing outcome data. (LINKS ARE BELOW.)

I did a strict ketogenic from January until last month. I cut sugar all processed food and kept my carbs low. Back story, I train and compete in jiu jitsu. I also do strength and conditioning on top of my jiu jitsu training. I felt the best I’ve ever felt. I went and had my yearly check up, the doctor told me my cholesterol was dangerously high and put me on statins. I stopped keto, I feel like shit. I can’t train as much as I use to, because I get so sore. I have no sex drive. And I went back to having brain fog. So I went back to my Dr he told me I need to stay on the statins and limit my activity. I told him to fuck off. That’s my story.

Very timely- I'm a 60 year old male I've been on paleo since 2005 and Keto since 2015 and my cholesterol has been gradually getting higher from 5.2 in 2015 to 7.2, I exercise and lift weights.
So my doctor insisted I started Statins and I refused. He then insists on a CT Angiogram and Carotid Arteries ultrasounds both sides of the neck. When the test results came out he called me totally shocked and told me I had '0'zero % plaque or calcium deposits ! He put it down to my diet and exercise! My testosterone levels were 40% over the norm !!

As a cardiovascular nurse who has worked in non-invasive and interventional cardiology, as well as vascular surgery, I like to hear about the science of it all. My mom has lost 30 lbs on Keto. Her fasting BS levels have went down but her LDL is higher than ever. I keep going back and forth on the changes to her lipid panel. She is off her statin, which I’m very happy about due to Alzheimer’s disease on both sides of our family. I’ve been a huge advocate for the American Heart Association over the last 13 years in my field. Now I don’t know what to think about that organization. Thank you for posting videos such as this one. Very informative. Keep them coming!!!

Wish more MDs were as passionate about finding the true cause of disease, instead they just throw meds at the problem. Dr. Halberg is awesome.

Unrelated to the lessons here, I just wanted you to know I enjoyed the visual ambiance in this video. It made the experience more enjoyable and relaxing, and made listening more like a fireside chat.

I cover my steaks with salt and let them set about 30 minutes before I cook them. Makes even the cheap cuts taste so good and tender.
BP this morning 119 / 72 and I"m 61 years old and no BP meds.

Dr Hallberg's passion for his cause is incredible. I am a total fan. As a fitness trainer in Europe, I sincerely hope the LCHF filters through into mainstream medicine here for type II, it seems we are slow to catch up, with more and more of the ageing population being diagnosed with diabetes type 2. Guidelines for a documentary televised in the UK only last week recommended a liquid diet with recommendation (in the pdf linked to the programme), stating 'as long as it is low calorie, look for a meal replacement option and do not (!) be concerned wth the sugar content. So misleading and confusing for those who have been given incorrect advice on how to reverse this still increasing epidmic.

Keep up the great work Dr Hallberg, love your succinct delivery of information...

Changed to Keto back in April of this year and dropped now over 35lbs! Getting away from carbs and sugar was hard to start but once out of my system the need went away! Also I can fast two days per week without any feeling of need to eat, feel better than ever, have dropped two out of three meds that were prescribed!

i went to weight watcher for years. I just did not lose on it. They said I was not eating enough so I ate more. Gained weight. Said to eat less so I did. Didn't lose anything. Went on the keto plan and have lost 23 pounds so far and will not go back. My blood levels are now below pre diabetes levels so I think diets with higher carb food are just bad for some people. Since most diets have the dieter gain back the weight, these diet plans are just raking in the money. Meat and vegetables are working for me.

Just found this interview - so informative. I get grass-fed ground beef with liver and heart mixed in. Delicious! Only a bit more a pound from U.S. Wellness Meats than just ground beef alone at my local Sprouts. Aldi's has grass-feed NY strip steaks for $10 per pound, half what it costs in other stores. The name of the farm is on the package so you can check it out. I practice IF and do mostly OMAD in the late afternoon. This carries me through to the next day. I'm back to my college weight. I'm so happy to know low-carb lifestyle is now going mainstream among medical community. It totally changed my life for the better.

Nice video, I have NightRider cgm and Libre sensor for monitor the glucose values on phone without scanning and finger prick. Also, I share my glucose data as well as my food insights, activity data to my endo. I found all these features are very useful.

I can attest to the emotional glucose response. After being keto and intermittent fasting for 3years and reversing type 2 all my numbers normalized. April May and June 2018 were very emotionally draining for me and that’s when I started to see glucose numbers rise even after fasting for 24hrs. Sometimes, it’s not diet but a emotional/stress response.
