In this video I discuss the results of new study of mine just published in Aging Biology, entitled: ‘When a calorie is not a calorie: metabolic effects of intermittent fasting in humans’.

I know many people will be disappointed by these findings but data are data, the rest is wishful thinking that sometimes can be transformed into blinded uncritical faith:

I read "The Manual of Healthy Longevity & Wellbeing" today. It was a very good book for me, as it is clear, easy to understand, and I was able to start to use the information immediately, to make better informed choices. The recipe section has beautifully photographed delicious looking dishes the recipes I look forward to trying. Thanks Dr. Fontana for producing a practical manual I will utilize as a solid general framework for many, many lifestyle choices from now on.

Hello prof Fontana, in another video (about the difference between mice and human metabolism) you said that an effective strategy might be (yet to be proven) a 3 days eat, 3 days fast regimen, but you didn't go into the details, since this regimen is impractical. Could you please make a video and elaborate about it and tell us why it could be beneficial? Thanks a lot!

Prof. Fontana, I also believe quality matters. What would be the outcome combining IF and good quality food? And on athletes would IF put additional stress in the body? Thanks

congratulations on your new book, sir! i've read "the path to longevity", but can't wait for the new one.
i wonder if you have some thoughts on the japanese running style called "niko niko" or "slow jogging", invented by prof tanaka from japan.
i also wonder if you have a pesonal opinion about mr. longo's fast mimicking diet. i hope i'm not crossing any line with this.
again, thank you very much for your work !
i wish you a happy new year and best of luck !

Grazie Professore!

Maybe the 2:5 diet would give better results than the 5:2 or 4:3 diet? Excited to read the book when it comes out

Professore, non riesco a trovare il link per scaricare/comprare l'articolo. Potrebbe indicarlo per favore?

Fasting in termini di autofagia? Credo che molti medici intendano il digiuno in questo senso piuttosto che in termini dimagrimento.

Should those of us who still have weight to lose then aim for a daily moderate calorie restriction, or is it still recommended to have a couple days of lower calorie non-starchy vegetables as long as we are following a healthy diet the rest of the week as well?

Intermittent fasting, then, remains a good way to lose weight but offers fewer dimensions of benefits than calorie restriction with adequate nutrition.
