Hey CJ, I was on the fence about this very subject... in fact I'm sitting here on the Apple store app trying to figure out which Mac Pro I want to spec out. I decided to watch some comparison videos and I so happy I came across yours. Your video plus reading the comments helped a lot. I will be going with the 16" mainly because I don't travel a lot and I prefer the screen real-estate for photo / video editing over the portability of the 14". Thank you and everyone in the comment section.

Personally as someone own 16” MBP on Intel, I prefer the larger screen real estate of 16”. However, most of time I am connecting the MBP to 38” monitor, as such, I don’t see huge benefit of 16” MBP. I will pick 14” but beefed up the processor M3Pro, 36GB, 1TB SSD.

It's a hard decision for sure. I have 16" MBP M1 Max. It's great for around the house or maybe if you are going for an extended stay somewhere. If you are using it as a portable work device (I'm a sales rep, so multiple clients at multiple locations and a lot of time spent working in my truck or on a plane) I would go with the 14". The 16" is a wonderful laptop, but it is a bit of a beast and mostly sits on my desk with the occasional trip to another room. Rarely leaves the house.

Update: I ended up trading in the 16" and getting a 14". For my use case it has been much better and a more enjoyable experience.

I got the 16 inch and this is my first mac, was expecting light weight, but heavier than expected. Overall performance im satisfied though. Still learning MAC

Another issue with the 16 inch MB Pro is the edge of the front of the notebook will generally rub against the wrists as the distance from the keyboard and front edge for the 16 inch notebook is much larger than the distance for the 14 inch notebook even when typing in the correct position. However, if the notebook is in fact being used as an actual laptop rather than desktop, this is not an issue since the elbows are at or above the notebook surface.

I use 14" and iPad for screen extension and portability, plus the iPAD has other handy features.

My last two MBP (Intel) have been 16”, but these days I link them to a 32” monitor for photo Lightroom and Da Vinci resolve video editing so I don’t need that 16 inch screen any more. I’m gonna get the 14 inch which for portability is only 40 g heavier than the 15 inch MacBook Air. True

I had the old dell xps 15 (which is as big as the 16"MBP) as soon as i used the 13" xps I stopped going out with the 15". Trust me if you go out a lot with the laptop then that portability is a huge factor

Really good video! I have the 16" MBP M1 and it's great but I do travel some and like going to coffee shops. I am seriously thinking about the 14". Thanks for your thoughts!

I own an M one iPad Pro 12.9 inch, could you do a comparison video on what laptop to choose for owners of iPads?. You could side cart the iPad to get more screen real estate and often times the iPad screen is just perfect. What would you do if you had an option to have the iPad and the 14 or 16 inch

Travel - go with 14
Home - go with 16

Same with PC and laptops:
Travel - laptop / MacBook
Home - PC / Mac mini

Have both the 16in M1 Pro MBP and 14in M3 Pro MBP. Honestly, if you could only have one then I would go with the 14in because of the portability.

Easy choice if it's going to sit on your desk most of the times. then get the 16 inch if you know you are travelling or just carrying it around, save yourself from frustration and get a 14 inch (coming from a 16 inch owner)

Why is the performance better of the 16" if it's the same chip, or were you just comparing base 14" m3 pro with base 16" m3 pro. And what did you mean by bend and unbend? The 12 core vs the 11? Thanks!
