The thing is, the majority of people don't need insane power, and the M1 is already more powerful than most people need.

That's a bait title Alex you sneaky man! haha. 100% agree with the majority of this. I'd always say 1tb minimum even if you were a photographer. I really hope the 14 and 16" (if rumours are true) are identically spec'd as I'd actually consider dropping down to the 14" for the same reason you mentioned, I'm always in clam shell mode.

I agree but for longevity some of these upgrades can be worth it, I'm still using my maxed out 15" MacBook Pro from 2015 and am just considering upgrading now if I hadn't got the better CPU and RAM at the time I would have had to upgrade sooner.

For most people, if they already had the M1 Macbook, then this upgrade probably isn't worth it. However, I think the new Macbook pros are geared towards people who either haven't had the M1 Macbook, like me and would be a significant upgrade, and/or toward pros and creatives that might have more usage for that performance. Sure they might not "need" it, but for those workflows, it's not necessarily about necessity, it's about optimization and just a better experience.

I asked myself the same question after watching a ton of reviews on the M1 Pro/Max Macbooks. I ended up going with a refurbished/used M1 MacBook Air with 16GB ram and a 1TB SSD for $1350 (tax and shipping included!). The faster speed of the M1 Pro/Max for me really didn't make sense for the extra cost. Considering the YouTube videos I watched with people editing 4K and multitasking with ease on the Air was impressive! I edit an occasional 4K video and just do regular computer stuff on a daily so saving over $1000 easily by buying the Air vs the Pro/Max just made sense money wise. Keep up the great content!

My thoughts:- My M1 really did need 16G, 8G kept crashing. I use my laptop - on my laptop - I need a big screen. Memory ? I can slot extra memory stuff in the card reader like i did on the old machines.

I have a Mac mini with a M1 and I love it. I also have a MacBook Pro 16 inch i9 version. I thought about trading in my MacBook 16 inch for the new one with 1TB but I’d be trading in my Current one PLUS paying another $1300. Do you guys think it would be worth it? Or should I just keep what I have now because honestly it runs what I need without problem.

Apple didn't add the notch, they removed everything around it that previously was dead space, and just gave a cutout. Frankly I would prefer the dead space like before, just don't think adds much realestate and aesthetically to me is a bit of a nuisance.

There was one still image where they showed an iPhone and MacBook and iPad and there was a picture of a girl playing guitar and there were chord diagrams below her showing how to play the chords and it look like a cool music app but I don’t know what it is. And I tried to go back and scrub through it about seven times and still couldn’t find that image. If anybody knows what app that is and could tell me I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Hello, Alex. If I'll buy Mac M1 Pro - should I choose 16 Gb or 32? I usualy like to open tens and tens of bookmarks with youtube videos in browser and I wanna in the same time to render 4k video with color correction. And maybe even in the same time I'd like to to video editing in Final Cut while in background mode rendering some 4k video. So how much of memory would be enough for that stuff?
