I think an easier solution is just using layer styles and having an alpha mask on grey (or blue would work on your image since it's mostly red) and then just alt clicking the sliders. This is non-destructive too 😊

Thank you. I’ve been manually removing these pixels for the past few hours before doomscrolling and coming across this video. This is gonna save me much time

Just select with magic wand, increase the selection border... and invert selection. Done.

This should be an automated feature, not a long, obscure process

20 years of using Photoshop and I just learned that it’s Contiguous and not Contagious

Layer > defringe also has some useful options

Or you just go to select>modify>expend (my photoshop is in frensh so I might have messed up the traduction but you get the idea) and set it to 2 or 3 pixels. It's 3 clicks and 20 time more simple imo

Select>Color range is also excellent in this case as it also creates soft selections where there is color contamination (for example around the edges where the pixels may be 50% red 50% white).
The problem is that it is not Contiguous therefore it selects throughout the entire image, so after selecting you may have to deselect some areas of interest that were not suposed to be selected. Or do a preselection with the magic wand, then use Color Range after

I usually just shrink the selection by 2 or 3 pixels. Same result in 3 clicks

You can also magic select the background, then grow it a few pixels and remove it. Does the same in fewer clicks (in Gimp)

Your voice is so soothing. Sounds Like one of those Instructional videos.

This might be silly but why not just color a layer under it black

Why not make a selection, increase or decrease the selection and then create the mask? Seems a lot simpler.

For a single colour background that isn't in the actual image (I tend to make my backgrounds different colours) I use the colour select tool and feather it.

how are people asking what program this is??? Photoshop has looked the same for like twenty years lmao

I just select the object and modify selection (contract) 1or 2 pixels....then reverse selection to delete or mask it

Layer>matting works pretty well too

Gimp. Layer Dropdown->Transparency->Color to Alpha->just set the sliders till you're happy. Can use this for any color background
