I'm on day four post-op (including the surgery day). I must say that I have cried on a few occasions..oops! I can't wait for it to get better..and I really hope that there are noticeable results!

I just had my surgery today and it was such a good experience. I went to the corona summit surgical center and the nurses and doctors were so nice and sweet to me. And the nurse in the operating room even hugged me while they were starting the anesthesia and until I fell asleep because she could tell I was a bit nervous. But I didn't have in problems at all, when I woke up my pain was very minimal but it did take me about half an hour to wake up fully. The nurse helped me change and right when I got home I took my medicine and drank a milkshake. My doctor told me that I would be fine if I had dairy if I could deal with the mucus. So far I feel fine and I don't have any mucus yet and my throat doesn't hurt very much. I'm just worried about how my pain levels tomorrow will be. But I wish luck to everyone who is getting them out in the future!

I got my tonsillectomy almost 2 years ago during the summer. I got it done due to constant swelling and tonsil stones popping up. I was fine until i got out out of the hospital and it all went down from there. I went to go pick up my prescriptions with my mom and pick up last minute things i would need and i started puking everywhere without even realizing i was nauseas and it got all over this old lady and she felt terrible for me. As the week went on all i did was sleep and throw up. i was on vicoden and percocet both made me extremely nauseas without food but i couldnt get anything down. Staying hydrated is definitely a must in the recovery process because i was admitted twice in two weeks to the hospital for not being able to eat or drink anything because i couldnt handle foods in the stomach nor even trying to get them down my throat. it took me about a good month to finally start eating solids because my throat took forever to heal since i was throwing up everytime i even moved. But overall im happy i got them out because i dont have to worry about my tonsil stones and i rarely if never get sore throats.

OMG! Im at day 9 post op. It was a TERRIBLE recovery. Nobody tells you about the ear pain that comes with it and I find that was the worst part for me by far. I had mine taken out because of tonsil stones.

Thank you for posting this. I'm currently on day 9. I still have scabs but they are thinning and I only seem to take pain meds when I wake up and just before I go to sleep. I have had a horrendous recovery. In the UK you are told to eat solid foods from the moment you wake up to aid healing. I was fine the first day but it all went down hill from there. I ended up getting a throat infection and a double ear infection, I've just finished the antibiotics for that. I was in so much pain and I spent most days in a ball on the floor crying and wishing the world would end. It wasn't until day 7 I saw a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm still in a bit of pain but no where near as much and I'm slowly eating solid foods. Drinking isn't an issue anymore. I just can't wait to have all the scabs off and to be in the safe zone for not bleeding. Touch wood, I haven't had any bleeding as of yet but I'm so scared it's going to happen and I end up back in. For anyone going through this or about to go through it as an adult, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I promise you.

the codine is so strong that generally you want to take it with foods not on an empty stomach. figured that one out the hard way😷

Throwing up is like the worst for me:( I'll be fine if it's painful but I'm terrified of throwing up. Can't they prescribe nausea meds to take home??

Lol girl I really was craving Mac and cheese about 4 hours after surgery. I am so glad I ate as much as I did. If I had taken my pain medicine on an empty stomach I would have felt horrible. I have a really tiny appetite but I ate as much as I could because I knew that would help.

I just got my tonsils out today and it was very painful. I can't take any strong pain killers because of a gastritis issue so I highly recommend icing your throat and cheeks. Walking and eating non-dairy ice cream have also helped me. Thanks son much for this video!

Hello today! I'm on day 12 of my recovery and hot damn was that a wild ride. I'm sorry you had such a hard time with the painkillers, luckily (if you can call it that lol) I used to take codeine recreationally (I was a hell of a teenager) so I could handle them quite well. I'm glad you got through it, and now that its a month out and then some, I'm sure you're doing quite better! I can't wait until I'm where you're at now. Cheers!

Im on day 8 today, and trying to stop taking the codeine. May I ask how long between when you went back to work. And When you felt 100% again?
