Ever since the Google Home was announced I have been receiving the question, "Can I group a Chromecast and Nest Audio, so the videos plays on the speaker?" Today it is time to answer that question.

To request this feature, just ask your Google Assistant to "send feedback" and submit a request.

So what do you think? Is this worth the hassle to get working and are you ok with large audio latency?

So how do we make Google understand that this is a big issue for their customers 😡

What a lost opportunity for Google. Having compatibility with Chromecast GTV and nest devices is a perfect opportunity for Google to take over in the the home theater industry. Hope they get this up and running, would love to have a few hidden nest speakers working together as a 5 or 7 speaker setup.

I see this video is 2 years old. Where do we stand when pairing the speaker with a Chromecast? Has it been any improvement?

it would be cool if you could pair 3 or 4 home minis together and link it to the chrome cast and use it as a cheap surround sound system

Shouldn't have to use Bluetooth at all. It should let you select a speaker group as the default sound playback device and remember that setting between reboots. Anything else is just a bodge job (UK Terminology!).

wow. watched so many tech guides and how to videos and they normally really piss me off... to slow, over explaining, condescending... or the opposite, no background or explanation at all... just do this, do that, never do the other... this dude has nailed it. exactly the right info, exactly the right timing. thanks Brett - my new go-to guy!

As always, Brett, I loved the thoroughness of your video. It's disappointing the Google has still not addressed this video/audio issue. Amazon has had a home theater solution for a while now, and I'm disappointed the Google has not kept up. Hopefully, they will get their act together soon if they want to stay competitive.

This is such a missed opportunity for Google and could be integrated natively. However, I can see that connection reliability would be a big con and the lack of physical audio ports on the speakers would make this hard to negate.

Thanks dude! This is great! I was looking all over for a video about this. Nicely done! I hope Google fixes the latency!

hi, thanks for the explanation, but do you know if it would also work with a nest mini? cannot get the Google tv Chromecast to output video sound via the nest mini, does not detected it via the pair remote or accessory, even if the nest is already setup as a group via the home app ...

Super job as always. I was wondering if you can help with an issue, i have 2 Google speakers in 2 different rooms and if playing music on one and someone goes to play music on the other (say in the downstairs living room) the music will cut from the first speaker and redirect to the second. Have Spotify Duo set up and it does the same thing with that also. Does the person who uses the downstairs device (elderly mother) need to have a smartphone with her her own Google home app on it for the system to then become separate? Cant find the answer anywhere and you seem to know your stuff, cheers.

Hi Brett. How did you get it to recognise your nest speaker group in settings. When I instruct it to pair Bluetooth, only one speaker will respond and show in the list. I can then connect the other speaker separately, however it will only play through the most recently connected, not both even though they are grouped?? Thanks.

hi Brett, i want to ask if you have some kind of an updated version of this? i guess what i really want to know is if the google nest speakers works well on a chromecast with google tv? i'm still trying to figure which ecosystem to use, i currently own a firestick tv 4k and inches away to go full Alexa ecosystem but i'm a Google/Samsung fanboy as well so i'm hoping that Google speakers works with the new chromecast with google tv so i can go straight on the Google ecosystem. thanks.
