Get more FPS out of your gaming machine

If you're looking to get more FPS out of your gaming PC then you're in the right place. I'm going to talk through various different settings you can apply in your BIOS, in Windows and in your game to maximise your FPS and get better performance.

I'd recommend trying these settings (if you can) to improve performance and get more FPS:
Go into your BIOS (press DEL or F2 when starting up):
And turn on XMP/EXPO for your RAM
And turn on Re-sizeable Bar Support
In Windows:
Activate Game Mode
Activate Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling
Adjust power settings for ultra performance
Turning on Ultra Low Latency in Nvidia Control panel
Activate experimental mode in Nvidia GeForce Experience
Automatically optimise games for the best settings
Automatically tune your graphics card for best performance
Alternatively try MSI Afterburner automatically overclocking
In games look for:
Nvidia DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling)
Intel XeSS (XeSS Super Sampling)
or AMD FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution)
Try one of these and set to balanced or performance mode for more FPS or quality for better visuals as well as better FPS. Don't try to turn more than one on though!

Let me know in the comments if these tweaks get you more FPS.
The other thing to try is uninstalling and reinstalling your graphics drivers. Use DDU to completely remove them and then do a fresh install of the latest drivers.

First, be sure that you have the latest Nvidia Drivers (if you're using an Nvidia GPU):

And GeForce Experience:

MSI Afterburner:

resizeable bar only works on newer gpus such as the AMD 6000 series and up and rtx 3000 and up
and I don't have that, still on rtx 2000 series so that feature is useless

Game mode and hardware accelerated gpu scheduling can be hit or miss. You'll need to test them both on and off. Me personally, my system runs best with both of them off.

Performance mode is useless since its a laptop optimization for battery usage as far as i can understand, and as you can see the default already decided high performance.

Game Mode for majority games makes no difference and seemed to affect 1% lows more often with making those worse

Keep Game off

Game mode turned on really doesn't do much for gaming. A tech reviewer just posted multiple game test with it on and off and 95% of the games with game mode on lost FPS and had lower 1% lows. Results it really hurts game performance instead of helping. HAGS on is most likely the best thing to turn on.

NGl it hurt to see 1080p with a 4090...even at a stupid high refresh rate.

With an 4090 i think you gonna get enough FPS. only GPUs you should do this is like 3090 and under

I’m crossing my fingers that he has a better display for that 4090, only 1080p?
