Why do cops ask this?

Why are cops always asking "where are you going?" or "where are you coming from?" Hopefully I can help you understand in this first three-minute Thursday episode.

Ya, I’m not telling you where I’m going or where I’m coming from. 😂

That this officer is so naïve is not a bad thing. It implies he has an innocent heart. But it is still naïve to think most cops are asking these questions because they might let you go based on how you answer.

You’re speaking from a cops perspective bro. Let me brief you on a civilian basis
“ how’s it going do you know the reason why I stopped you?
I answer “ I don’t know “
“ ok because I noticed
You have license, registration and insurance on you sir?”
I hand it to them
“ great thank you is everything current?”
Me” yes sir address too”
Him “ good good “ or “ great”
Where are you heading to?
Me: “Just on a drive, I didn’t realize my turn signal may not be working hold on I want to see…”
Him.. “ no stay in the vehicle let me run your stuff I’ll be right back “
2-7 minutes pass and he comes back up and asked again where I’m coming from and I say that’s irrelevant I’m pulled over for a blinker right? He proceeded to ask where I’m going and I said the same thing. His direct response was “ why aren’t you cooperating with me?” I said I am but where I’m going is none of anyone’s concerns. A conversation battle ensues on why I won’t answer…. “ hang tight “ and got back into his car and 2-3 minutes later a second K-9 unit pulls up. They tell me I’m suspicious and ask to search the car… I said no. Lawful DEMAND to step out of vehicle… dog “signals” there’s contraband and my vehicle searched anyways. 5 minutes turned into 45 and nothing found. Ticket for failing to use turn signal and that’s it. “ had you just answered my questions we wouldn’t have had to go through all this trouble mr cardoza “ .
So tell me again how “ respectfully “ declining a question is perfectly okay? This exact scenario happens all the time! Ohhhh that’s right because it doesn’t, it only adds more fuel to the bullshit fire they created by us “ not cooperating “. They’re always looking for that next big arrest even if it risks violating the rights of the same people they are funded by. You’re as biased as they come bro.

Never answer where you’re going or coming from. Police are NOT asking to consider letting you off. They are literally trying to catch u up in a lie later on in the conversation.

"As a sixty five year old man, I`m not offering explanations or asking for permission to be out on the roadway. And that goes double to someone less than half my age..."

Definitely true, not sure if you are familiar with the YouTube channel "Audit the Audit" I commonly hear people invoking their right to remain silent. I got pulled over a couple months ago, cop was a nice guy, I answered all his questions politely as well and he just reassured me the speed was 35 mph and not 45 mph. No citations, but just goes to show how being polite can help. Of course not in all situations but in some. Great intro animation!

Nah, even for the smallest of infractions say a marker light out, " where are you coming from " just doesn't hold water.
Everyone pulled over is a " possible citatation or arrest to the most of you patrolmen. About like a car salesman sees dollar signs when a customer pulls on the lot.
The reason yall get a bad rap is the lack of respect for the citizens and how most of yall exert unconstitutional authority and unlawful orders upon us.
Don't like being seen in that light ? Do something to change it.
If you're that 1 patrolman who is different, who doesn't exert unconstitutional and unlawful orders then educate and train your fellow officers .

I try not to laugh when they ask, "Do you know why I pulled you over?" I always think silly things like, "Is it because of the 15 people I just ran over? Is it because of the trail of cocaine flying out of my car window?
I always say, "No sir, " or, "No maam, " with a calm voice.
But I'm thinking, "It's probably because of the guy I have in my trunk trying to get out, again.

1:43 What if the person is respectful when telling you that they plead the fifth amendment whilst not saying anything else)? Do they always get a sitation then?

What you need to answer is why literally EVERY cops says "I'm trying to figure out whats going on" no matter the situation? Doesn't matter if it's a traffic stop, a mental patient, or stop n frisk.

The one thing you all need to stop saying is exactly that "I'm trying to figure out whats going on". Because you say it in response to almost anything.
