Say THIS at Your Next Traffic Stop #Lawyer #Cops #KnowYourRights

If you're at a traffic stop and it seems to be taking a while, ask the officer, "Am I free to leave?" You have a right to a reasonably long traffic stop, so this question makes the officer come up with a legal reason to hold you longer. If he says you're not free to go, ask the officer what the reason is for your detainment, then invoke your Fifth Amendment right to remain silent.

You can ask them, "AM I free to leave", yes. And they will refuse to answer. They're looking for an opportunity to intimidate and harass you.

Yours is probably the best quick legal information site out there. Very timely, very concise, very understandable. You have to be a great lawyer! Keep up the great work, and thanks for helping others without being in it for just the money. A real Abe Lincoln of the modern day.

That did happen in our case. But what happened even before that was he can be cell clearly lying that we were traveling in the fast lane when we were clearly driving in the slow lane. It all started with ONE Illegal stop that led to another lie of us speeding, as he states in his formal report. That report came 4 or 5 months after we were stopped by the way.

There is dash cam video footage showing nothing about speeding being a topic.

Unfortunately we were threatened with possible 10 year sentences to take a 4 month plea deal. It sickens me to this day.

Can we still sue Missouri

Unless the traffic stop becomes an investigative detention based on articulable facts developed in the course of the stop. The internet “lawyers” usually fail to mention that.

If you see this officer specifically say "Frank, aren't you on the Brady list for being a fucking liar?"

After receiving a ticket and he said, “have a good day” sarcastically, I actually had an officer flip out on me because I put my vehicle in gear as he got to my tail light. He ran back up to my window screaming, “you don’t put your car into gear until I get back in my car!” He spit because he screamed so loud. He would’ve never gotten hit with the car and there was still traffic coming. It’s not like I was gonna hop out into traffic sideswipe everybody. It depends on the power trip and the officer.

Excellent advice. My roommate was traveling in the process of considering a move to California (so had his life savings with him in anticipation of buying property), got held 45 minutes after a traffic stop in Arizona that was a mockery of justice. The "safety officer" insisted they weren't detained and that they chose to stay, in the process of stealing his money through "asset forfeiture".
I attended the hearing where this was discussed, where the officer claimed his reason for pulling them over was not the fact that they were driving a late model expensive rental heading west (if he was honest, he would have admitted this), but because there was a cell phone holder (no cell phone) mounted on the windshield, and when he asked the two people in the car where they were going, they mentioned two different cities that, claimed the officer "everyone knows" aren't next to each other, "even people from Kansas City Mississippi back on the east coast"😳😮😡, and that such a stunning lack of geographic knowledge as theirs was reasonable suspension of criminal intent, and the judge eagerly agreed. According to the police report, the officer claimed to have found drugs on the driver - who they released and charged with nothing - while confiscating and trashing the rental (but found nothing), filing drug, money laundering, and firearm charges against my roommate since his money and ID were together in his suitcase, along with an antique Beretta with no firing pin... We later learned that the partner of the lawyer we hired was dating the arresting officer... And though the judge eventually ordered his money returned, he was told that $7K of it had been sent to Phoenix as evidence, and all attempts to retrieve it have failed; they actually told him that he needs to contact the arresting officer to find out where the money is, and of course no answer there... All of his troubles these last 4 years could have been prevented if he had known this one bit of advice.

Once they hand you a ticket, it is presumed that you are free to leave.

Deputy Frank Sloup from Pinal County AZ is on the Brady list. Contest every ticket he issues.

People need to make themselves familiar with the requirements of a “Terry Stop”.
