Why Do Cops ALWAYS Ask This Question!? #Cop #LawyerReacts #KnowYourRights

If you have ever been pulled over or if you've seen any police show, you know that officers always ask "Do you know why I pulled you over today?" The reason for this is simple: They're trying to get you to confess to the crime they plan to ticket you for. Why? Because it ensures they won't have to go to court, and if they do, they will win the case.

If you ever get asked this question, just say, "No, I don't, but here is my license and insurance information." If they keep pressing you, say, "I'm invoking my Fifth Amendment right to remain silent." This should make them speed the traffic stop along without playing games.

In California, a law was passed to force police to state why you were pulled over.

I've always found it amazing that citizens are held to a standard 100x more strict than an officer.

The cop is also trying to get you to confess to the traffic infraction. Once you've confessed on body camera you have no defense.

“Do you know why I pulled you over?”

“Don’t you know why? You sound confused. Have you been drinking, officer?”

"If you don't know then why did you pull me over?"

California no longer allows a cop to ask that question. Maryland legislators are considering not allowing cops to ask "do you know why I pulled you over?" or variations on it. Time for all states to stop this phishing expedition...

My answer is, "Because you were lonely and Grindr wasn't working?" Followed by, "Unfortunately I'm not that type of guy... So am I free to leave?" 🤣

Very good information! Everybody has to remember that these police officers are on a fishing Expedition they're looking for ways through questioning to possibly implicate you in a traffic infraction or a possible crime. Please, remain silent, speak with an attorney.

Playing games? Officer, I believe you initiated the game playing. 😂😂

Not in CA. They now have to tell you the reason. This should be law everywhere.

"Do you know why I stopped you?"

"Why? Did you forget?"

The process is the punishment. They antagonize you then say you were being combative and arrest you. Later the charges will be dropped. But now YOU have been solidly put in your place.

The only correct answer, “Because you wanted to.”

It's an easy check for admission of guilt, if you tell them you were speeding, they don't have to do much you admitted to committing an offense

Polite and professional!?!?! AHHHH HAHAHAHAHA!!! Not to these scumbags. "Do you know why I pulled you over?" "Idk, because you were bullied in school and now you're taking it out on the world with a gun and a badge?"

They are actually trying to get a confession out of you.

I had a small town police officer ask me that once. I told him that I, "suspect that it's related to the manner in which I sort of drifted through that stop sign back there." Apparently, it was the right answer. He had a good laugh and commended me on my "articulation of the infraction." He then thanked me for the best laugh he'd had all day and sent me on my wayward way.

“Well officer, I was going the speed limit, I used a turn signal, stopped at stop signs and my lights are working. Tabs are up to date, and I don’t drink. Are you stopping responsible drivers to thank them for keeping others safe on the roads?”
