CLIP DESCRIPTION:
McCoy (DeForest Kelley) meets an alien at a bar regarding an illegal ride to Genesis.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
When last we left the crew of the star ship Enterprise, they were heading home following a skirmish with the despotic Khan. The unpleasant incident had cost the life of Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy)--or so it seemed. Admiral Kirk (William Shatner) is informed by Spock's father Sarek (Mark Lenard) that his son is being kept alive in the thoughts of one of the crew members. It now becomes necessary to search for Spock's body, so that flesh and soul can be rejoined on Vulcan. It turns out that Spock's spirit is residing within the mind of the Vulcan's longtime shipmate, "Bones" McCoy (DeForrest Kelley). Finding the body is another matter, since the Enterprise has been consigned to the trash heap and thus is out of Kirk's jurisdiction.

They missed off one of the best parts. When Bones tries to use the volcan grip on the security guy and fails. 😂

The delivery makes this line the best ever uttered.

This scene is a perfect example of McCoy dealing with Spock's katra. Early on he tells the girl that ordering poison in a bar is illogical. But the one that really makes me smile is later when security shows up, and McCoy says: "Where's the logic in offering me a ride home, you idiot? If I wanted a ride home, would I be trying to charter a space flight?" It took me about 20 or so years to really appreciate the esscense of his inner Spock bursting out there.

A combination of a Yoda-type speech pattern on the part of the alien and the irrational/discombobulated behavior that Bones shows forth makes this scene to be uproariously funny and one of the more significantly hilarious elements in the picture. What is missing from this clip would be when he tries to incapacitate the Starfleet officer with a Vulcan pinch grip that in the movie even further accentuates the humor aspect.

LMAO! This whole scene is funny as heck. Both Deforest Kelley and the actor playing the alien (Allan Miller) are great in their parts -GENESIS?! (1:37) Wish the conversation could have gone on a bit longer for the lulz.
