Star Trek III: The Search for Spock premiered in theaters on this day, 40 years ago, on June 1, 1984 in Star Trek History.

In The Search for Spock, Admiral Kirk's defeat of Khan and the creation of the Genesis planet are empty victories. Spock is dead and McCoy is inexplicably being driven insane. Then a visit from Spock's father, provides a startling revelation: McCoy is harboring Spock’s living essence. Kirk attempts to steal the U.S.S. Enterprise and defy Starfleet’s Genesis planet quarantine to search for his friend, but the Klingons are planning a deadly rendezvous.

That Uhura scene is one of my favourites it strike the balance just right. Such a shame she didn't get more to do in the movies.

The crew busting out McCoy, stealing the Enterprise, escaping Spacedock and eluding the Excelsior is some of the best music James Horner wrote, and just a wonderful sequence with nifty character bits in the movie. So. Good.

First Star Trek movie I saw in the cinema. Hard to believe it's been forty years. Still love this movie, and really looking forward to seeing it on the big screen again in a couple of weeks with friends. LLAP.

I am sorry but i have announce this is only in the UK but this movie is to be cinemised once again over here with the 4K remastered version. from June the 15th. i feel you guys in the US should also get as it was a US studio that made it but unfortunately its only happening here in the UK apparently.

Ah, yes. The Search For Spock, the movie where Christopher Lloyd's character dies and the protagonist goes on to take his vehicle into the past in order to correct a wrong, and make sure two marginally interesting characters procreate
