If you want to hear her clean vocals, listen to her from back when she was in The Agonist. Also, don't deprive yourself of Angela Gossow singing for Arch Enemy before Alyssa.

Alissa is the best example of clean, very technical harsh vocals. Without any type of filter, very natural. Especially her diction!!! spectacular, one of the few advantages that is understood what she sings!

Their new song “Handshake with Hell” would make a good vid also. Alissa shows off her range. Still looking forward to Matt Corby - Brother thou. 😉

Arch Enemy with Angela Gossow was the band that really got me into death metal: the vocals and the guitar sound in particular. Before Arch Enemy, I only went as far as metalcore stuff (Bullet For My Valentine, Killswitch Engage etc), but it wasn't until I came to love Arch Enemy that I was able to open my mind to the vast, varied and fascinating world of metal beyond the mainstream.

For that, I owe my love for death metal to Arch Enemy.

She is a great grrrowler! You really need to also listen to Angela Gossow, the former frontwoman of Arch Enemy. She has a fantastic voice and commanding stage persona. We will rise or Nemesis is two great songs she performs live.

Angela Gossow HAS to be next, especially since talking to Alissa without knowing who she is would be really awkward. Angela's royalty, the Godmother, and perhaps the greatest live frontwoman metal's ever seen. I'd suggest "Burning Angel" from their live in Tokyo dvd, but any song from that concert will do.

cheers Elizabeth!

You should totally listen to her singing The Agonist as well, so you can hear her clean and harsh vocals in the same song ❤️

Well, now you really have to check out Angela Gossow, the former vocalist and current manager of Arch Enemy. She was an absolute beast in live shows, so maybe take a look at the Tokyo concert from 2008.

I love to hear you acknowledge the similarities between classical and metal music! Your deep appreciation for great musicianship is so refreshing <3

"YOU WILL KNOW MY NAME" and "Reason to believe" are epic too, as is e.g. her "Demons are the girls best friend" too 🤘😊👍

She has always been one of my favorite vocalists. She is perfect with arch enemy. Her talent is able to really shine

Clear diction is definitely one of Alissa's strength in her harsh vocals. Usually I need to look up lyrics for harsh vocals, but not for her.

Jeff Loomis, the guy with the red guitar, is one of the most insane guitar players you'll hear. If you want to check out some of his instrumental work, he did a project called Conquering Dystopia that is absolutely monstrous

This song is okay IMO. The new singles "Handshake With Hell" and "House of Mirrors" are great representations of her talent.

This is the song that convinced me to give Arch Enemy a try after Angela left, and it’s become one of my favorites. An analysis of “Handshake with Hell” off the new album would be a lot of fun. Not only is it Alyssa at her growly best, but she does some clean singing on the track as well.

I’m sure it’s been said but “ Handshake with Hell” really shows her vocal ability. Currently my favorite track by them and the band itself it just god tier. Michael and Jeff on guitar are a nasty combo.

Alissa is fantastic, as was Angela. To compare one to the other does both of them an injustice. They are different but both amazing, neither better nor worse than each other.

I loved seeing that look on your face when the guitar solo hit. It's a great example of the Gothenburg sound, and may lead you down a very enjoyable rabbit hole. Great analysis as always!
