It creeped me out when Gordy went back for more when he realized the girl was still moving. The brutality was hard to sit through!

Bro the monkey was the scariest part of the movie. That scene where he looked up from behind the lamp was more terrifying than the alien itself

honestly the monkey scene should've been a stand alone movie or short, it was 100x more scarier than the alien itself

The part where Gordy snatched his birthday hat off when he was done. Was way too human like and unsettling.

Another tie in that my friend mentioned to me is how this Gordy storyline is DIRECTLY CONNECTED to the woman who was mauled by “Travis the chimp” (look it up) and how OPRAH HERSELF wanted to make her a spectacle in real life!!! The woman who got mauled irl and in the film are literally wearing the exact same hat with a veil to hide their face, hence the reason Emerald kept mentioning Oprah in the movie.

I also feel like Ricky was probably so traumatized by the tragedy but even more confused by the shoe that he never got the chance to understand why Gordy went that crazy. All he knew was that Gordy didn't hurt him and was relatively calm by the time he got to him, making him believe that he had something special that could tame a wild animal like you said. That's why he treats the alien like a spectacle for profit because he never truly learned a lesson from that tragedy. Another thing I would note is when the documentary guy said something like "the world doesn't deserve the unexplainable" right before he gets swallowed up, it was a bad miracle that Ricky saw the shoe because it saved his life but also made him miss the lesson in that horrific event, therefore did really "deserve the unexplainable" shoe that saved him. He probably thinks he has enough experience with wild animals and unexplainable things that his ego leads him to being killed.

Gordy was treated as a live prop or attraction for an audience. Later on, Ricky does the same with the alien. Another thing that was foreshadowing future events, Ricky avoids eye contact with Gordy, being fixated on the shoe, hence the reason Gordy didn't attack him right away. If the characters looked directly at the alien, it would attack them. Ricky hiding under the table was also similar to the characters hiding under the canopy later in the movie.

If you watch with closed captions, apparently Jupe whispers to himself when his back is turned to the crowd for his Star Lasso Experience, he says “you were chosen.” He really does think he’s special in some way.

The Gordy moment was the most terrifying moment for the second one is hearing people screaming before they die

Jupe serves as a foil to our main character: OJ comes from a line of horse handlers, training animals is literally in his blood, and as a result he understands and respects them.

Jupe on the other hand is something of a fraud: he was an actor, and even his little amusement park is only surface deep.

But when he was spared by Gordy, he interpreted it as a sign that he was special. The shoe represents what OJ talks about; a "bad miracle." Jupe kept the shoe, and thinks about the memory fondly: if it were traumatizing, he wouldn't want to bring it up. But instead, he jumps at the chance to tell Amber all about it, and even keeps a shrine to the show, complete with the shoe, to remind him of that specific moment in time.

Because he interpreted the shoe as a miracle, a sign that he was special. He believed that Gordy spared him because he was special. When he saw the UFO, he felt like he did back then: in the presence of a dangerous being, and wanted to relive that moment, believing that he could repeat what he did all those years ago

But he never fully understood what happened, or why it happened, and worse, he put an entire crowd in danger, without understanding what he was getting into.

As opposed to OJ, who understood the behaviors he was looking at, and knew how to respond

To me, the shoe also represents the nature of severe trauma---a horrible moment that in a way is always suspended in time, within the person's psyche and spirit. In a way, it never really ends.

I think what makes the Gordy scene more terrifying than the ufo itself is because it's something that can actually happen. Reality is terrifying

I thought the scariest part was the "aliens" in the barn scene and it ended up being a prank. That was well played

The shoe being an example of a 'bad miracle' is a great catch.

There were two CRAZY scenes that really got to me yall! The one where it seems as though Jean Jacket purposely open its throat/mouth to let the cast in the house hear the peoples screams, it was trying to make the cast scared of it. As it shouted the screams poured through and boyyyy that was just a powerful scene. It was so scary and terrifying that scene. And the scene where it the show viewers were sucked up and you could see their bodies being sucked through the super small canal. Watching it one the big sceeen felt like I was in there too I swear lol. One of the first times I actually started breathing heavy as I was watching a scene in theaters! Made me feel damn near claustrophobic 🤣. Oh and the kids prank got me at first lol.

Honestly felt bad for Gordy. He was treated like a living prop and went on a rampage. Poor thing looked so confused when it calmed down and tried to do the fist bump.

So i just saw a comment that mentioned the probability that gordy went crazy was because he saw his reflection (plus the loud pops of course) in the balloons and that makes sense too BECAUSE when the random guy in the first few minutes of the movie showed Lucky's (the horse) reflection with the ball thing it freaked out and kicked whatever was behind him so maybe the horse reacting like that was like a foreshadow or a clue to the reason why gordy went crazy or its just a little tiny connection detail Jordan Peele decided to add🤷

Gordy knew Ricky was just like him, a spectacle. Asian kid living with a white family.

The whole entire scene was eerie to me only because it was dead silent except for the balloons popping, and small subtle sounds that Gordy was making as he moved around and I also compared the shoe standing to the cloud standing still. Also the cameras look like the aliens

Did anyone notice that there were ppl in the audience for that recording of Gordy's show. You might not see it, but all the audience ppl were hiding their faces, looking away and kept quiet as they were awaiting help from the police.
