Film Synopsis:
Oscar®-winning filmmaker Jordan Peele reimagines the summer movie with Nope, an expansive pop epic of uncanny science fiction. Following their father's shocking death, Hollywood animal wrangler OJ (Daniel Kaluuya) and his sister Emerald (Keke Palmer) begin observing unexplained phenomena on their vast Southern California ranch that leads them down an obsessive rabbit hole as they plot attempts to capture the mystery on camera. Along with a former child star turned family theme park ringmaster (Steven Yeun) who neighbors the siblings, the pair's efforts to chase the spectacle soon bring terrifying consequences and unimaginable horror. This was easily the scariest scene in Nope to me for its sheer brutality and undertone of tragedy. Gordy's rampage ending with him not even realizing what he did to those actors, then trying to bond with Jupe, before promptly being shot point blank, haunted me for the rest of the film. It's made even more harrowing knowing that this was based on 2 real life chimp attacks. Just goes to show that human or animal, no one should be exploited

Aside from the absolute horror of what Gordy did, the close up on the girl who played his sister on the sitcom as an adult, sitting in the stands with a sweater with her face on it showing how she used to look before Gordy maimed & disfigured her, is such a sad and tragic image to me, that stuck in my head for a while after I saw the film

4:15 might be the scariest thing in a non indie horror film i've ever seen, the sudden pause, the deep breath, the first person shot, the blank stare, the corpse in the background, the extremely realistic monkey, the blinking on and off applause screen. just everything

4:04 the sheer humanity of him taking off the hat and touching his own face in distress, then him trying to bond with Jupe again afterwards, is what really ties the scene together. Despite the violence and horror of what he's done, he still has this moment of grief that feels so human, and it ties the whole theme of animal abuse in the film industry together perfectly.

I really love how animal-like he actually is. Most of the times, the animal just rampages through as a monster, but he actually acts more like an animal

All the visual symbolism is amazing but one bit in this scene I haven’t seen anyone else mention is that starting at 4:00, the lampshade in front of Gordy not only looks like an eye but it also resembles Jean Jacket and it turns towards the camera as soon as Gordy does 👁️

What makes this already scary and sad scene is the fact that Gordy tapped the womens foot as she was lifeless to see if she was ok, and when he notices the kid, you see him visibly start to panic knowing how scared he is, so to cheer him up he tries to give him a fist bump until he's shot. 😢
