Quick and easy broccoli sprouts

Making broccoli sprouts using wide-mouth mason jars and Masontops plastic mason jar sprouting lids. I experiment with growing them in dark and light conditions.

I love sprouts but the problem is any food matter kept in moist, warm conditions is susceptible to bacteria that can cause illness and without a lab for testing, home made sprouts or kimchi etc increases food poisoning risks. Since home made sprouts became popular, there have been more cases of poisoning from sprouting. Perhaps not everyboy has the best hygeine practices or doesn't sterilise their jars well enough, but in general sometimes we can all be at risk despite best practices as even commercial sprouts have been known to have higher risks due to the fact they're eaten raw and exposed to moisture ans warmth. When i buy sprouts sometimes there is still moisture in the packet so it's like just sitting in moisture for however long. I guess I'd only eat them now if I throw them into a soup last minute and give them a quick blanching.

I only soaked them for 2 hours because it was written on my seed package, I hope this will work. Do you know how many gram sprouts you get from two tablespoon seeds after 5 days?
