For those confused on why palpatine let maul live and get broken out of prison by deathwatch is because, it was all an elaborate scheme for maul to lead him to mother Talzin as papa palps saw her as a threat to his future empire.


Also it’s later revealed Talzin is mauls mother and Palps took maul from her when he was younger as he saw massive potential from mother Talzin’s offspring, (reminder palpatine wasn’t aware anakin existed until episode 1, so he didn’t see maul as a temporary apprentice when he was training him).

Son of Dathomir remains one of my favorite star wars comic books. Maul vs Windu is something I never expected to see. I will say that I was massively disappointed that we didnt get to see Maul vs Dooku as Maul was much stronger in the clone wars than he was in TPM.
