'Darth' Maul vs The Inquisitors [4K HDR] - Star Wars: Rebels

"Darth" Maul introduces himself and fights against Vader's Inquisitors, as seen in the 2 hour Star Wars: Rebels Season 2 film cut - Twilight of the Apprentice.

13 film cuts, 21 solo episodes, covering every episode of the show (including the 4 shorts) all upscaled and color graded into full 4K HDR for the first time ever. Now you can watch Rebels in a more theatrical way, just like my prior Clone Wars Arc edits. While not every single episode could be easily edited into a feature film, all of the most important arcs have been recut to flow as seamless films, giving the Star Wars television canon just a bit more of that epic theatrical feel, and making the video look as good as we possibly can for modern up to date HDR capable screens.

For best results, please watch these trailers on a 4K HDR capable screen using either your TV's youtube app, or your 4K HDR capable monitor's Edge or Chrome browser youtube URL. HDR capable smartphones and tablets should also display the proper colors at any resolution.

Use the following Google Doc to see the cuts for yourself, then follow the instructions there.

Maul felt Vader coming that’s crazy how scared of him he is

I just love how Maul and Ahsoka are too OP for the Inquisitors

Lady Tano. He didn't even address royalty like that. The amount of respect he held for her is unmatched. I never caught that until now.

The fact that Maul still refers/addresses Ashoka as “Lady Tano”

It’s a damn shame this was the closest maul and Vader ever got to meet

3:50 I have good reason to believe that at that moment Maul sensed the arrival of Darth Vader.

Honestly love how they did Maul here, it's a clearly linear development from his Clone Wars characterization, throughout his time on screen he has become calmer and more evened out without ever losing either his (sometimes earned) arrogance or his aggression. He's all the more dangerous as a fairly calm antagonist, and he's learned the art of manipulating via the truth

3:18 Maul is right, it was clear that she wouldnt have stopped. Sometimes you cant spare an enemy.

I’m surprised that certain people think the Grand Inquisitor can beat Maul, when in reality it’s just not possible. I mean did those kind of people even watch this fight? Maul was literally toying with these three, they didn’t even damage him once, and the entire time he was just dancing in front of the 3 sloppy Inquisitors mopping the floor with them. I get Maul is a lot older now, but he’s no helpless man. He was still able to move so fast that the Inquisitors couldn’t keep up with him, and another good example that he’s still pretty much the same Darth Maul from CW is he moved so fast Kanan didn’t have time to defend himself, when Maul charged towards him. So many people extremely underestimate Maul, he would demolish every Inquisitor we talk about.

Edit: thank you guys so much for all the likes. I wasn’t even asking for them nor was I even expecting to get this many, I just wanted to make a statement.

Maul looking at these automatically spinning sabers like "look what you need to be half as cool as me."

The Inquisitors aren't really a match for any well-trained Force-user. Most of their prey has been half-trained Padawans, Jedi long past their prime or Force-sensitives who were never trained. Against Ahsoka (the former apprentice of the Chosen One) and Maul (a former Sith Lord), their inadequacies and wannabe statuses really show.

And that actually makes sense from a narrative point of view. The Inquisitors are meant to appear as scary as possible to detract from how they're more-or-less glorified attack dogs, relying on their intimidating appearances and gimmicky lightsabers to overwhelm opponents; once they face foes who can overcome that, they fold pretty easily.

3:18 It’s kind of funny how this scene is depicted as somehow being “dark” by the ambience when Maul just did the logical thing here. What’s he gonna do, put her down and tell her to stop fighting? They have no way to restrain her and it’s obviously she’ll try to kill them once she recovers. Maul did the right thing here

These are probably the best episodes of the entire rebels series.

Kanan is so underrated. He wasn’t even finished training and yet he has the discipline to take out Maul only seconds after becoming blind. Not to mention he’s one of the only modern Jedi who sees that love is a good thing, but also doesn’t let it blind him(no pun intended). Kanan is what all Jedi should have driven themselves to be!

I was honestly hoping to see Darth Maul duel Darth Vader when I first saw this episode
