Then his life became hazardous when Obiwan destroyed him and maul eventually hated life. He regretted having so much hatred and dark feelings, even if he was trying to be good. Dark side led him to failure. He hates Sidious

I have to say that, once you know maul’s backstory, the ending of his story is perfect. That last confrontation with obiwan where it’s just 2 hits is perfect. It’s not a battle, it’s and ending.
