I am not sure why such questions, as it is so clear in the Quran. Also, some say one can eat haram when one is starving and near death, but that is not what the Quran says, as one has to be really lucky when being starved and so close to death to find a pig, etc... Allah makes the Deen (way of life) but people and those lead them make life miserable. Also, a point here. The Quran does not say you can have meat from the people of the book if halal is not available. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Well Christians like myself don't follow Kosher only for the reason of Mathew 15: 11- 24, which as it is words from Jesus himself, is supreme than the laws of man. I agree with him in 2:39 as it is still followed by almost all observer christians. Almost all observer christians will not accept food items that is sacrificed or had undergone some kind of ritual for some other diety. Except for all that all other three dietary laws are not applicable for christianity. But I will not enter into a discussion about dietary laws in christianity as there are certain denominations who follow strict dietary laws, even stricter than Halal laws. So its a topic thats still debated to this day. Gotta say he is well informed on the bible.

Zakir Naik doesn't have a clue how ignorant he is about basic Bible teaching, let alone his lack of knowledge of Judiasm. As for his incorrect understanding of The Holy Bible, its no wonder he looks nervous when he tries to quote it!

Heres the basics for you:
#1: Jewish Deitary Laws are in Leviticus. That is the third book of The Bible, in Christian terminology. These kosher dietary laws have only been given for the Jewish people- and they've never been given to any other. That's why Christians don't keep kosher.


#2: Moses was never a leader or 'messanger' to non-Jews. Moses was for Israel, as he remains today. None of the Commandments given by Moses were/are for Gentiles. Never was the case, never will be the case. Thats why Christians don't keep kosher.

#3: Noah was not Jewish. Noah was, and remains the one to whom God made the Covenant for 'the nations' (Gentiles, non-Jews). Seven laws gave Noah, one of which is "do not eat of an animal limb of which the animal is still alive"; an example is shark fin soup- it is is against the 7 Laws of Noah.

#4: The seven laws of Noah discussed twice in the New Testament also. Christians don't use the term Laws of Noah, but they do have them known as the teachings of the Apostles. The Book of Acts lists them, and they were implemented to some of the very first followers of Jesus as mentioned in the New Testament. Acts also tells Christians '"to refrain from meat offered to idols". every Christian I follows this to a T.

#5: Muslims are Gentiles, and as such are not under any laws of Moses. It is not required by God for you, nor does it earn you any favour with Him. In the New Testement, in a dialogue of Paul regarding this very topic, it says, "let every man do according to his conscience...". That's why Christians don't keep kosher. Some don't eat pork, some avoid lobster, some avoid most sea fish; but it's not a it's according to their own consciences and has nothing to do with anybody else.

#6: Jewish dietary laws outlined in the Bible forbids all shellfish. Most Muslims have no idea.
