Clearing the Nozzle on Clogged Spray Paint Cans

We've all done it. Only use part of a can of spray paint only to come back weeks or months later to find out nothing comes out when you push the button. Follow along and I'll show you the quick and easy way to clear the clog and prevent it from happening again. My old friend WD-40 makes a star appearance.

Don't worry the brilliant minds at Rust-Oleum made sure that the newest generation of spray products are impervious to wd-40 and all other forms of "unclogging".

AMAZING!!!! I had several cans of spray paint that were almost full, wouldn't spray, so I was about to throw them out. Tried your hack and they ALL work now. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU !!!

Thank you. That is very helpful! I live in a cold climate and my spray paint often clogs. Keeping them stored in a warm place helps too.

You didn't show it working. How do we know it works? I know mine is not the cap. I've put a brand new cap on it and it still won't spray.

A trick that I use is after you use your spray paint immediately after you're done turn the can upside down press the nozzle until it sprays clear. That is the solvent spraying out and cleaning your nozzle. You have to do that every time before you put it away. But you need to do it immediately. Good luck and take care.

I am going to try this. I have a new can of KILZ that refuses to spray. Your solution can not any worse than my frustration.

Hahahahaha, love the Elvis impression, Ed. Can you tell what/how you remove the rust from your outdoor furniture? I have an old metal kitchen cart that I want to repaint but I don't know how to clean all that rust off. I had a tiny bit of naval jelly that I found in my Grandmas barn. It worked GREAT, but I can't find it anywhere. I read a post that said to use CLR but that didn't really work. Any suggestions would be a big help. I'm disabled and not very strong anymore so I try to work smart. Thanks so much!

Note to self: purchase WD-40 and needles and 10 other items and I might get it unclogged!
