This is true. Went to an expensive university. I honestly believe the curriculum is more or less the same as other universities. But man, the network I got… I’ve got friends who are politicians, CEOs, and other C-suite levels now. And I’m just in my 30s. It may sound utilitarian but your connections help you move ahead a lot faster than without them. Facts.

I've been preaching this to my son since he was 10 years old: college isn't what it was when I was growing up. Back in those days, if you had a bachelor's degree in anything, you were guaranteed a job no matter what you studied. Now, college should be for expanding your network. If you're going to go to college, it should be strategic, or for taking something specialized for the most part, unless it's going to be about expanding your network and actually utilizing it afterward. If that's not your plan, don't go. Figure out something else. I'll fund a small business for you or whatever you want to do that makes sense, but don't waste my money on college.

That's pretty true. Harvard grads are no smarter than grands from any other top tier school, probably a little dumber. But they coast for the rest of their lives on the reputation of the school and the alumni network.

I joined a political club at university because I was considering the military officer route and they like that kind of thing. My politics are atypical and I’ve never been interested in the flak that mainstream talking points bring. Luckily, most of the politics discussed was palatable as it regarded niche current events. Furthermore, I met quite a few outgoing and friendly people, from the other members to local politicians and donors.
