I make 60k driving a forklift. I wish college was more affordable. They tried pushing me into student loans back in 08 when i graduated, but i knew there was another way. Hell no i wont take out thousands in loans that cant be discharged through bankruptcy. Now im about to start my own business in a few months.

Codie also went to college. People don't always have to go to an expensive university. Go to a state school, pay less, and still make $55k/year. Also, the wage gap between college graduates and non graduates is quite big. Morale of the story. Go to a less expensive school and still make more than those who didn't go.

Agree but under certain circumstances

1.if your going for a law, medical, or stem field you need college other wise you'll never get hired
2. If you got a scholarship or fellowship that reduce tuition to almost nothing, take that chance

3. You don't have to sleep in a dorm or study out of state unless it's all paid

College is an investment and its up to you if it's a good one or a bad one

I'm actively going out tomorrow to try and meet business owners willing to sell me their business with seller financing and sweat equity like you've talked about. I am one class and a dissertation away from my PhD and I'm not completing it as it's another $20k in loans.... you speak my love language. Time to bring small business superheroes back

With my scholarships and all, I was basically getting paid to go to college. About $2000 per year being deposited to my account. So maybe college isn’t that bad depending on the cost 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yeah, it's rough. Having gone on to work in higher ed, I've seen the diminished returns up close. 😢

Factor in the opportunity cost of getting a job and working full time, and it’s even worse. Also, demand for different degrees vs. the supply will always influence the market value of different degrees. The TCO of most degrees are abysmal and the ROI is not high enough to justify it.

I'm still scratching my head at how useful an undergraduate degree is, at least in the field I was looking at. It doesn't look like you really start learning anything super in depth until you hit Masters or doctorate level.

We don't have to go to an expensive university, and it is recommended to go to a university if you want a specific job.

Love that she mentions Tuition and Room & Board as different. Tuition has floated with inflation, room & board (aka cost of living) as increased DRAMATICALLY.... but no one is talking about that.

Your Statement is somewhat true. In professions like engineering and the medical sector you should have gone to university... some jobs are better made in the classroom. And unlike the USA some countries offer almost free education, like Germany.

Black folks this does not apply to you, get a degree if you want a chance.

If enrollment is at all time lows - then how can all of these colleges still afford to reject kids with 4.0 GPA's and high SAT scores?

Information for knowledge is readily available on the internet and is accurate. You will take probably one year of school to graduate while learning the rest for free

The majority of experts working for college drop-out billionaires are college graduates. The medical field is yet to feel comfortable allowing a self-trained doctor to practice. There are a lot of ways to make a living without a college degree, but the right degree is still of great value. It all comes down to accessing the relevant skills and/or knowledge. Cooking and eating at home may be cheaper than eating out, but that does not mean restaurants and hotels are overrated. Let's make affordable alternative ways of accessing skills a challenge to universities that rip off students. Bottomline: You can never go wrong acquiring knowledge. Moreover, you can not afford ignorance. Shop around for the most cost-effective way to hone your trade and never skimp on learning.

And that is what is happening to everything in the middle class.

Only discussion about how college is "not worth it" it's because how insanely expensive it is in the US. If it were as expensive as other countries relative to income ratios without even considering Free education this wouldn't be a huge topic in the US.

Let me tell you something. I have earned two degrees. Neither have paid off. I work hard. I'm.below poverty. Widowed. No retirement. Not worth it at all. Period. Only put me in miserable debt.
