No college. Worked construction my whole life. Own my home outright. Started a family. Now I work a few days a month to pay the bills. Life's good.

There’s a difference between education and intelligence.

I got a history degree 20 years ago. I now know that everything learned was a lie. I’ve learned more reading on my own than in college.

I was bitter in my twenties when I was denied enough in student loans to pay for a state school. My parents had financial troubles of their own and couldn't help. I worked multiple jobs in construction, landscaping, and demolition. I also worked in a deli and a liquor store. I learned a lot of skills along with people skills. I put myself through community college and now make six figures a year. Getting denied student loans was a blessing from above.

Dropped out of highschool and started welding. At 25 I own a nice house, 2 cars, with no student debt. I'm far from rich but I make alot more than the teachers who told me I'd be a loser.

I went to college, got my degree in psychology and sociology, so naturally I spent the next 6 years after I graduated in the food industry.

Back in the day parents prayed their kids would go to college, now they pray they wont.

As a veteran who used his GI bill to learn how to weld I approve this message

I sway people from college when I can with my baby sister's success story. From delivering pizzas to a 6 figure career in the aviation industry. Never set foot in a college. You don't need BS college to be successful in life. You need brains and a solid work ethic. Go baby sis! Proud of you!

I have a great life story for you. I joined the Marines in 1986 and was discharged after 4 years of honorable service. I wanted to be a welder but they made me a cook so i got out. I quickly registered at a Jr college because I was told that college is the only way to go. I had a new GI bill now and was gonna use it. I studied forestry (don't ask, it was because of a chick) for a year before i realized my massive $250.00 GI Bill check and the 2 other jobs I had just were not covering the ability to survive. Hell, Rent was $350 and groceries were $40 dollars a week and the government (our buddy) just made insurance for everyone mandatory on my beat up, but paid for, 1980 Honda so another $26.00 a month was being taken from me. I was at a Circle K one morning getting my coffee and breakfast (2 hotdogs for a buck) and this guy at the register was bitching that he just lost his truck driver and needed another. I said, "I can drive a truck" as I actually drove one for one day in the military to get a card for it (never touched one after that day). Guy hires me and then sends me and his truck down to get a new class B CDL (this was the first week for license changes to mandatory CDLs because the government (our buddy) mandated it. I passed the test and got my CDL and went to work. 5 years later I have a Class A CDL and I am working for BFI hauling garbage, medical waste and running a landfill making 75k a year. In 1997 I get divorced and BFI sells out so I decide I should go back to college to make the big bucks (eye roll). So, I join the local Army National Guard Infantry Unit and take a job as a grave digger in a local cemetery to pay for school and study straight thru for 4 years and in 2001 I graduate with honors and have 15k in student debt. I immediately get my first college job with local city making 28k a year. I managed to keep that miserable job for a year before I was activated to go fight overseas. I come back but my job is gone (Soldiers and Sailors Relief and Protection Act Was all Bullshit, "Thanks Buddy"). I deploy again to help pay off my miserable 15k student loan and then one more time again because there are NO JOBS AVAILABLE in 2007 for anyone with my degree. I am wounded in Afghanistan in 2007 and quickly discharged from the service but find out I am eligible for the newer GI Bill. As soon as I physically can I find a local trade school welding program. I enter the program and am certified after 18 months and am immediately picked up by a structural company making 65K a year. I was a welder, then a CWI, then a safety manager, now a projects manager! I should have become a welder at 18 years old as I would have been a multi millionaire by now!

Didnt go to college, got a job and owned my own home when I was 25 as a millennial. Best decision of my life.

I think what’s unfortunate is that people who want jobs that require college have to go through this shit. And at a young age you’re still prone to manipulation. School system is messed up

I got a mechanical engineering degree, worked in Alaska in the oil industry for 6 years before joining my Dad in our machine shop. Been poor ever since; but it was wonderful working with my Dad for 10 years, & personally helping locals with their machine problems. It's not about money, but love for your fellow man, which makes it so fulfilling.

I saw teachers crap all over vocational students back in the 90's and 2000's while driving cars held together with duct tape and chicken wire.

My Dad was awful in school and still struggles with reading and writing. He is a skilled welder, He is skilled in carpentry. He can build a home from foundation to finish. He can make fancy furniture. He built his own contractor business with a few hand tools and used a station wagon for a truck to start. I remember going to get a load of plywood loaded on the roof racks lol. He is also skilled at farming, and gardening.

My husband and I are both with MS in Engineering from prestigious schools, both have patents. Our professional lives were and still are very rewarding, full of challenges and never boring.
We have 2 sons of which one went through college all the way, earning PhD in English, still paying his debts, without tenure, going from one teaching job to another. He became a bitter “woke” thing, angry with the world and penniless.
The younger son took 1 yr of college, left, then took several jobs, where he acquired very valuable skills and knowledge. Later he found 2 other guys to start their business, which became very successful. His learning will never end, but by now his Engineering skills are on a par with his dad’s! 😃 He had to go through the school of hard knocks, but he never blamed others for that- just picked himself up and started over with the same determination.
