Honestly, I dropped out of college because it isn't for me. I do not like classroom learning, I hate assignments, lectures and all that nonsense. It simply bores me to death and I quickly ran out of motivation, and just started procrastinating (and failing). I didn't want a trade job either. I started an online business, and learned as I went through self study and application of what I had studied. Both high school and college were places of torture to me. I was more worried about grades than actually learning anything. It was just an endless cycle of cram and forget, in the end I hardly learned almost nothing.

I didn't go until much later on. While I wasn't in college, I worked. Keep yourself busy and then you'll find what you want to do.

That 'huh' after Dave said read 25 books by experts around the 2:00 mark lets me know that it hit home and this guy is gonna win.

It's crazy to think at 18 we should know what we want to do with our lives. At first I wanted to be a mechanic then a business owner now an RN. I've almost got my ABA and will be getting my BBA then turning around and getting a ADN later a BSN the only good thing is the ADN and BSN will be faster because of all the prerequisites I'll have completed. But now I've taken extra college classes because I was wrong about what I wanted because of expectations. The good news is I go to a lot cheaper college and financial aid covers the low fees. So I'm still currently debt free.

My sister is currently 19 years old. Her teachers/family members kept pressuring the idea that she must graduate from a four year college or she'd be stuck at minimum wage jobs her whole life. Now my parents aren't too happy about footing the bill for her to get a general music degree.

I wonder how Dave Ramsey feels about those people who say "It doesn't matter what you go to college for. Just the fact that you have a degree makes employers take you more seriously! It could lead into other things." Like what?

Yea college wasn't for me either. I dropped out twice. But I agree with Dave saying you can read the top books by the top guys in an industry and be an expert. I've read almost every classic marketing/copywriting book available on Amazon. And took the best courses. I rewrite million dollar ads every day to sharpen my craft. I'm building clients, earning 5% on every dollar one of my ads pulls for them.

I’m a high school senior as of now, and I’m worried what’ll happen if I tell my mom that I don’t want to go to college. I keep thinking she’s going to kick me out of the house, because I’ll be 18 by then. I still don’t believe college is for me.

He’s right about reading, but there are multiple ways to get knowledge without reading. Like YouTube, podcasts, audiobooks, networking. Etc.

Union apprenticeship. Paid for books my first year and that was it.

Check out Praxis (an apprenticeship program). Hands-on experience sometimes under a CEO of a big company. If you’re good enough, they may hire you over a college graduate.

A college degree can cost you as much as $12 per hour if you know how to calculate it. Don't do what everyone else is doing because everyone is broke!

I would HIGHLY recommend road construction and safety.

Get an occupational health & safety degree/cert. I believe those are at tech schools.

Every company needs/requires a safety guy/gal.

A guy I know, 6 figure income!

With the internet anything is possible if you are creative and have a lot of time. Don't fall for debt slavery.

If you don’t go to college get in to a trade electrical plumbing automotive eta. Preferably one that involves you getting a license like apprentice journeyman Masters. They pay more when you have a license in them

Take on a union trade job for 10–15 years then get your license and open your own business

The young man needs some mentoring and one of the best ways to do that is to read. If he learned anything from this call, he need to read like his life depends on it, because it does.
