I'm nearly 60 and a multi millionaire. My greatest happiness was in my twenties when I was dirt poor. The idea that the future was ahead of me and I could be anything I wanted to be was fantastic. I was lucky, I became whatever I wanted to be. The joy was in the journey.

This is financial advice and I never give financial advice: DONT LEAVE DURING THE BEAR. If you don’t want to invest…learn. If you don’t want to learn…build. If you don’t want to build observe. DO SOMETHING…other than leave. There is so much opportunity here. Take advantage!

My wise aunt once told me that your business life is like a tennis ball, your family life is like a crystal ball. One you can drop and it will bounce back. The other, not so much.

I know someone faced with that choice. He was a top high school track athlete who had broken state records, but he walked away from it because he was aware of the price going forward, the hours and hours of practice, the absolute dedication to the one thing, and wasn't willing to give his whole life to it. As far as I know he never regretted it.

It's warms me so much to see his intellectual capacities strengthening with each passing day. Hope his health continues to grow.

People love the _idea_ of success and the shiny stuff, but rarely what is necessary to get there

This should be everywhere...because I feel like everyone nowadays is on a stressful meaningless journey to become the next rich and famous.

I often wish I’d had good advice in my youth. I spent way too much time working jobs I hated. I’m just grateful that I gave that up while I still have some youth and have decided to live my dreams.

When I was 18, having been raised in a family that was consistently below the Canadian 'poverty line' (we still had so much more than most people in the world, so poverty doesn't seem like the right word here), I made a promise to myself that by the time I was 30 I would be making more than $100, 000 net each year. I achieved that goal, at the expense of two relationships which I now realize were worth far more. Wealth can be an incredibly empty thing if you have no one to share it with. I don't know what the future will bring. But I do know Jordan is right when he says being young and poor is preferable to being old (which I am not yet!) and rich. Oddly enough, the time of life I had the most fun was when I was broke and starving as a student in university. No cares. No responsibilities. Nobody depended on me for anything. I guess I wouldn't go back to that time, but I do miss not having any real responsibilities and believing in the fantasy that if only I could hit a minimum income that would be truly worth achieving.

"People who are conscientious tend tear themselves apart when they become unemployed" So true. I went throught that hell in the past 5 months after getting layed off.
