Hypoglycemia:

In this video, Dr. Berg talks about low blood sugars, intermittent fasting, and your liver. When you have hypoglycemia, your adrenals compensate to rise in sugar but ALSO your liver. Your brain is the number one target for symptoms of hypoglycemia. If you have liver scar tissue as in cirrhosis or a fatty liver, this can lessen the function of the liver.

The liver normally makes glycogen, which is stored sugar and releases it between meals to stabilize low blood sugar, and having a damaged liver can lessen this function causing more low blood sugar problems.

Your liver also makes a hormone called Insulin-Like Growth Factor (IGF-1), which mobilizes the fat and stored sugar for energy, when you are not eating. Again, if you have a damaged liver, you can suffer the symptoms of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). To remedy this, it's vital you consume enough VEGETABLES.

Dr. Berg you always crack me up. I love how you introduced "Something called Vegetables". LOL I have been doing your Keto diet since July 2017, lost all of my excess weight easily (55lbs.), stress is gone, depression still lifting, triglycerides plummeted. All of your suggestions have saved my life. I watch your videos religiously. I no longer have any suicidal thoughts. Still working on the ptsd & lupus, but I am seeing lots of changes. Told my Doc NO to statins. I am still a work in progress, it takes time to heal the effects of bad nutrition. You are a my Rock. Thank you so much. ps. I wanted to also add, that it seems obvious to me that one would have high ldl with lupus. I think it will all work itself out as I heal.

I had severe low blood sugar symptoms years ago. I believe I burned out my adrenal glands. At the time I was working 80 hours a week and living off coffee. Literally like a cup every hour. I am completely healed now after about 3 years. Vitamin c, vegetables, whole eggs, minerals and trace minerals. It's amazing how far the body can come back. I really think that as long as you are living your body will heal it self when you give it what it needs

Before watching this video, i had did a 48 hour fast once a week for a 3 weeks, I could not get BG to get stable, I was either a little high or too low. I was also experiencing bad symptoms described in this video, along with leg cramps and chills. I decided to do ADF, for 42 hours 3 times a week. I ate 2-3 meals two days before, making sure to eat vegetables, and the fast went much easier for me. Thank you Dr. Berg for helping me meet my dietary challenges and needs. I need more help with my adrenals and liver at this point. Thank you. My mom died from cirrhosis but never had blood sugar issues, but my younger brother was diabetic T2. I became a diabetic exactly the same day my mother passed away, a year later. I was on the Atkins diet and a 850 calorie diet. I only gained weight and put on boat loads of insulin meds. I am grateful for your help.

Around 2014 I was hypoglycemic, now since 2020 I'm hypoglycemic (pre-diabetic). I had only eaten once per day for many years & until recently I was following the 6 meals. I've lost 25 lbs & still have alot of visceral fat, now you've peaked my interest in my exercise routine. Thank you for all that you do!!

So I was fasting 48 hours and my blood sugar dropped to 54 and felt horrible, high heart rate, shaking, weak. Ate half small apple and half steak. Back up to 74 feel way better. Also took 1 gm potassium. I do have an damaged liver from being fat a long time ago but dr said dont worry about it everyone has it. Now my liver is great not fat but probably scared sadly. So my liver can't keep going long fasts. Bummed but 20 hour fast seam ok. Thank you.

My partner and I have been on low-carb + IF for 2 years, feeling awesome! Dr. Berg thanks for all your videos, I get tons of information from you that tremendously improve my knowledge!! Totally love your presentations - simple, understandable, perfectly presented! IF (or time-restricted feeding actually in our case) is totally in sync with us and works so well, we do 20/4 regimen and once a week we do 36 - 45 hour fasting. I feel like a rocket! Seriously, since I went on low-carb + IF, I have been having 100 % energy morning to evening plus sharp cognitive function, on fasting days I have even 200 % energy or so, incredible. And we do training as well, fasted of course. I had never had a weight or serious health (just food allergies) problem, I just tried it out as my partner went on low-carb + IF for a weight loss. I was surprised, when my food allergies went away, my weight has stayed about the same (only improved the ratio body fat : muscle). So it works for overall healthy people with no weight loss requirements too!!

Thank you Dr Berg, awesome as always.
Is there a blood sugar level to be considered to be in a intermittent fasting state.
In other words, what should my blood sugar levels be to be in intermittent fasting?
Thank you.
