Which protein powder is best? Between Whey, Casein, Egg, Hemp, Pea, and Soy there are so many protein powders and supplements to choose from. Find out which protein powder is best for muscle growth, weight loss, and improving your body composition in 2024.

Whey protein is the most widely used protein powder for muscle growth. It's derived from milk and is known for its high bioavailability, meaning it's easily absorbed and utilized by your body. Specifically, whey protein isolate is better for most people than concentrate because it has a higher protein content with fewer fats, carbs, and lactose. Casein is another protein powder that comes from milk, but it digests more slowly than whey, providing a steady release of amino acids. Casein is often used overnight before bed, to provide a steady supply of amino acids and support muscle growth while you sleep. Egg white protein is another high-quality option, offering a complete amino acid profile, great bioavailability, and it's mostly free of fat and carbohydrates. It's an excellent choice for those of you trying to avoid dairy. Lastly, if you're looking for plant-based options getting a blend of pea, hemp, and brown rice protein, is an excellent options for vegans, but you should know that animal-based powders do have some advantages over plant-based ones in terms of biological value and amino acid distribution. There's even research directly comparing animal based vs plant based protein with whey and casein clearly outperforming plant based sources.

Problem with protein powders is even if it says low or no carbs...they still have maltodextrin, which causes massive blood sugar spikes. It is higher on the glycemic index than table sugar

I use milk protein isolate which has both, whey and casein in it, naturally. Using whey or casein separately upsets my stomach. I don’t see a point in separating the two, it literally goes against the nature. If you’re reading this and you get an upset stomach from protein powders, give milk protein isolate a shot. It’s hard to find though.

Anyone have any good recommendations for an affordable powder? Preferably low sugar/carbs, good flavor options, amino acid profile, and at least 25-30 grams of protein per serving. Having a good range of vitamins would be nice too. Looking to start doing more protein shakes, but there's too many options out there to look through them all

Wish I could take it, but it upsets my stomach even with lactose tablets.

This is why I go to sprouts and buy in bulk whey isolate for $24 per pound and pea protein for $8 per pound. I’ll have to check if they have casein

Or you can use both.... I take whey on the days that I lift and a plant blend of pea and hemp (Sun Warrior) on my cardio days.

What about yogurt? I have 300 g daily with some berries (fresh or frozen) and some walnuts.

Wouldn’t it be better if they were moderate in carbs as opposed to low in carbs so that they had some energy post workout? When I say carbs I mean complex carbs as opposed to sugar/ fast acting carbs

I use beef protein shakes. They’re not as thick or milky and I prefer the taste.

Casein all the way. Its better flavour, texture and its better for baking, etc. I do not drink protein shake, they are disgusting. So I always usee protein powder as an ingredient in something else. Also as a vehetarian, I hate the plant-based powders

Il stick with steak (ground beef) eggs and greek yogurt. There's no amount of mental gymnastics salesman skills that will ever get me to think powder is better.

Is it possible to build muscle without protein shakes? I'm allergic to them and it makes me sick. How can I not lose muscle and get smaller after lifting if I don't take protein shakes?

Thank you for the information. But can’t these nutrients be provided naturally occurring in everyday organic food.Aren’t protein shakes and such like simply just cynical money making.

How could animal protein possibly be more effective than plant protein when the animals eat the plants to get the protein?

I listen to it over and over. And every time - regardless if I use headphones or not - all I hear is: „Casein is another protein powder that comes from MILF“ 😂😂😂
