Thanks for letting me know about Crucial. Here in the UK a 16GB (4x4GB) RAM upgrade from Apple costs £480, but from Crucial they only charge £79 for the four 16gb chips! That is just unbelievable! UNBELIEVABLE!

I just added 8 GB's to my 2011 27" iMac for $48.00 + tax. I now have 12 GB's and it was a piece of cake after watching your video, Mike. I did have to push very hard to feel it lock into place.

@DetroitBORG I purchased my 27"with 4GB and then upgraded it to 16GB by Kingston. I would VERY much suggest that users do not install 2 different brands/models in their computers, MAC or PC. This is known in general to cause problems, some of which i have witnessed first hand. If users want 16GB, order it with 4 and buy the appropriate upgrade kit. Crucial offers a 16GB kit, Kingston you just order 4 4GB chips meant for the iMac. Both brands are less than $180. Either way, Thanks for the vid. <3

@clllmanmanman ram is what programs use to run. Some programs take up a lot of ram and some take little although ram will make a game less laggy but the lag in the game depends on the processor, graphics card, and ram. I hope this helped answer your question.

@Bullit163 as far as i know, upgrading the RAM doesn't void the warranty. In fact, Apple lists the steps in the product's manual. I'm sure if it did void the warranty, they would say so there. Hope this helps!

The video should suggest running MemTest in Single User mode to verify the memory all works. You'll never exercise that amount of memory just by plugging it in.

@Noillione According to the Apple website, you can upgrade the higher end 21.5 inch iMac, the one that costs $1499, but the $1199 one only goes up to 8GB.

no, only up to 16GB, but I run 16GB with CS6, and it runs like a boss
