The lower Your RAM, the higher the usage of virtual memory on Your soldered-in SSD. And when the SSD dies, Your MacBook dies too. And the sooner You buy a new Apple product. I have the wrong job.

The fact that they charge $200 more for 16 GB and $400 more for 32 GB is baffling.

Unified memory means the rest of the system including the GPU will now have to fight for RAM 😅

For those who don't know, Windows also uses memory compression

It's a shame that even IF it were true, you can buy around 96gb of ram for the price Apple charges for 8gb (+$200). Let me know when they are 12 times as efficient with their memory and we'll talk.

Went to the Apple Store, asked for a MacBook Pro.
"That'll be $7100." they say. I put a bunch of 36 tightly wrapped hundred-dollar bills on the counter: "There you are, unified compressed $3600, as good as $7200, and keep the rest as a tip" I said.
Well, I got out just before security arrived.

My wife's 2012 13" macbook has 16gb and 512gb SSD. So naturally I thought I'd get just pop out and get her a new computer with better specifications, seeing as that computer was 12 years old. I was wrong.

As of 2023, 16GB is the minimum decent amount of RAM. It is *shameful* that Apple is still releasing new MacBook models with only 8GB of RAM, which is insufficient for many users’ needs, and charging a premium price for the decent 16GB. This practice is not only unfair to customers, but it also shows a lack of respect for their intelligence and needs.

8Gb of RAM on a computer when it's almost 2024 is borderline criminal. As much as I enjoy Apple products, 8gb is insanely inadequate! 16Gb is rock bottom minimum.

Why give them usable RAM when you can get an additional $200 for that? Also, don't look at the storage.

The first McIntosh sold with 128 Kbyte of RAM, but all demo model in shop and TV ads had 512 Kbyte installed.
This is because the McIntosh could barely load the OS and have a single window open with 128 Kbyte. When the computer newsmagazine get a whiff of the fact they made a big storm out of it.
This to say, Apple have historically been poor with RAM. But at the time they gave the sockets for an expansion - no more...

Take a stand against Apple. Just stop buying Apple products until the dishonesty ends.
