Apple's 27' iMac Late 2012 model. How to upgrade the ram to 16GB

In this video I show you how easy it is to upgrade the ram on a late 2012 model Apple iMac 27".

One thing to remember is that this is only an option on the 27" Apple iMac. It is not something you can do on the 21" iMac so if you are going to buy a 21" iMac make sure that you add as much memory as you can afford.

My iMac spec:
Display 27"
Intel i7 3.4GHz CPU
16GB DDR 3 Ram
Geforce GTX 680MX
1TB Sata 3 HDD

If you have the money I would definitely go for a SSD option without a doubt. However the SSD BTO option is limited and you can only get the 768GB SSD which will cost a lot From what I have seen the Fusion drive is really really fast, so anyone that is looking to get a 27" BTO iMac and can afford the Fusion drive get it.

The Ram that I use is just the same spec and not is not the same as what was already installed. If your not sure then I would suggest Crucial Memory as they have a tool that will match your memory. Hope this helps

You can upgrade the HDD to a SSD but its not for the faint hearted as it involves taking the screen off. From what I have seen its a lot of hard work to be honest and unless you know what your doing I would not suggest it. Shame really as I am sure Apple could make its a user upgradeable option like the Ram
