“This is worse than what Thanos did to me.”

Considering we know exactly WHAT Thanos did to her, that’s saying a lot.

Rocket’s screams shattered my heart so badly…even Quill’s reaction.

“I DIDN’T ASK TO GET MADE! I didn’t ask to be torn apart and put back together over and over being turned into some…some little monster!!!”

When Nebula, the woman who had her eyes and brain ripped out and replaced said that what happened to Rocket was worse than what Thanos did to her, it just sinks in how awful, depraved, and inhumane the High Evolutionary is.

Hearing Baby Rocket’s screams shattered my heart…Rocket didn’t deserve this!

I love everyone’s individual reactions: Drax The Destroyer, is filled with concern.
Groot’s eyes are filled with sorrow for his adopted father.
Peter just can’t bare to look.
Mantis straight up cries.
And Nebula, though not showing much physical concern, admits that this is worse then anything she’s been through.

The comics described the surgery for Rocket as taking a regular raccoon, and breaking every bone one by one restructuring his skeleton, making him bipedal instead of quadrupedal. They don't even explain what in God's name they did to his brain and other parts of his body

“Why have you been fighting with the other boys again, baby?”
“They killed a little frog that ain’t done nothin’. Smushed it with a stick”

Years later, After watching Rocket surgery; EVERYTHING become personal to Peter

Gamora in that instance realized the monster her father was. And why nebula could relate. It’s like she didn’t want to accept that that’s what happened

We don't see anything, but we can see the reaction of people who was involved in battles and other traumatic events:
- Drax, who saw his own family slaughtered by Ronan, closing his eyes because he can't stand it;
- Mantis, that watched her own father murdering her siblings, is in tears;
- Nebula who admitts that it is even worse that anything Thanos had ever done to her.

ALL THIS TELLS US TOO MUCH.

Everyone talks about everyone else’s reactions to this, but if you pay attention to Drax- you can see that even he is taking it hard. Rocket was only a baby when they did this to him, and think about how Drax is a father. Drax saw a child be experimented on inhumanely and may have pictured if his daughter was in rockets position. This fueled his anger and motive for wanting to kill the antagonist in the end. He may be brute and may not understand complex emotions as well as the others, but this was personal to even him.

Also for those that disagree on what Nebula said- mind you she went through her augmentations willingly in order to please thanos at the time. We can assume he at least put her under for her surgeries and she had recovery time. Yes, she was in a traumatic narcissistic relationship with her “father” but rocket was caged, torn apart, put together, prodded, abused, and all of this was done without anesthetics. And on top of that, the family he made in that hell were all murdered in front of him and he couldn’t save them. Think about the first movie- he collected and eye, leg, and arm. Those were pieces that reminded him of his family since he couldn’t take their remains with him when he escaped. Teefs eye. Floor’s legs, Lylla’s arms. Nebula suffered with Thanos- but rocket never knew anything but “Hurt”. His first human dialect word.

I can't blame Rocket for not telling the other guardians about where he came from I mean if what the high evolutionary did to him is worse than what Thanos did to Nebula it just makes sense

“This is worse than what Thanos did to me”
I never would have expected Nebula to ever admit that anything was worse than what Thanos did to her.

No wonder Rocket never told anyone about his past and trama. Talk about the past coming back to haunt you.

This scene made me cry in the movie theater

The thought of something so young, with an almost complete lack of understanding of what's happening being completely reconstruted while it's alive, breathing, and capable of experiencing pain is disheartening

They managed to make the High Evolutionary such a legitimately vile villain. This film is written with so much care omg

Would it have broke The High Ed’s bank to spring for a little anesthesia?!

I cried almost his entire movie, seeing Rocket's backstory, hearing his cries, even his first word "Hurts", and hearing Nebula saying that what Rocket had to go through was worse that whatever Thanos did to her, horrible what the High Evolutionary and his minions did to billions, even trillions of beings.

Mantis: Why did he never tell us about any of this?
Drax: Why didn't you ask?
