In this video, I'll answer, "What is skinny fat?" and how to fix skinny fat with weight training. It's the skinny fat fix, which will make sense when I describe what causes skinny fat.

You'll need to use progressive resistance training to fix skinny fat. I'll give you some weight training guidelines for beginners and more advanced trainees. The ideal skinny fat workout is a weight training program based on the big 5 compound exercises.

Tips:
- Increase protein intake
- get enough rest
•0.7 to 1 gram/lb of body weight of protein a day
-Eat the right amount of calories
•don’t go in calorie surplus
•don’t take out a lot of calories in your everyday diet. You can lose muscle mass
- Make minor changes with your exercises
•Beginners can change it up after 3 months.
•if you are more Advanced then you have to change it 6-8 weeks
- Cardio 3x a week for 30 minutes
- Strength training 3-5x a week
Recommended:
•Squats
•Deadlifts
•Bench press
•Shoulder press
•Barbell row or Pull-ups

My transformation:
starting today, 26.7.2024

female, 170cm, 64.5kg
body fat: 22.6%
under bust: 74cm
waist: 70cm
lower hip: 84cm
thighs: 60cm
biceps: 31cm

WORKOUT PLAN:
strength 5x a week + 10min rope jump 6x a week
using 25kg resistance band
Monday: gluteus
Tuesday: back & shoulders
Wednesday: quads
Thursday: arms & abs
Friday: gluteus

Diet:
60g protein daily
around 1800 calories( i don't count) also i don't eat much sweets and drink only water, no juices

Update: 25.8.2024
weight: 65kg
so i gained 500g, i think and hope that's muscle
- i lost 2cm in thighs and waist, others remained unchanged
- do i see any physical changes, no. do i feel stronger, better, motivated, yes!
- sometimes i would drink soda and eat sweets and also some days i don't think i did my protein daily intake. also i didn't jump rope everyday because i don't want to risk an injury
- so yeah, a bit disappointed because i expected some extreme physical changes but that takes time.
- i will keep you updated ✌🏼
- update: i've got a huge pain below my knees and they've got a bit swollen, i will take 1 week break and definitely won't jump rope anymore

i just stoped eating junk im eating protein doing weights, my belly is gone frm resistant training yess! No ab workouts and full body movements.

this is so helpful, it explains a lot since I was binging and fasting way too much but couldn’t loose random fat around my waist/stomach. I would’ve never thought it was due to not having much muscle. thank you!

Kind of late here but thank you so much for this, i have been skinny fat and its been a month i have been going to the gym however i gained some muscle, not much and i got worried so ofc a few days ago i started protein shakes and creatine. But i was still worried until i came across this, the reason why i am seeing muscle change but not fat change is because i am also doing to much cardio. I go above 30 minutes everyday and its intense. But thanks to you i figured out the problem, i will continue my weight training as it is but only do cardio 3 times a week upto 20 minutes. I can’t thank you enough for this. Hope you have a very nice day !

Very helpful! I am 55 with a BMI of 20. I weigh the same as I did in junior high (108). I wear the same size jeans (size 24) but something WEIRD has happened to my body and I thought the jiggle was menopause. During covid i started working out at home and focused mostly on my pilates reformer and power yoga. I got SKINNY FAT! I hopped on a smart scale the other day and was shocked to see it put my BMI at 20 and my body at 28%! I am also a vegetarian and have NEVER eaten much protein. I tracked it for a few days and I have lived on carbs like veggies, , fruits and beans most of my live. I am now eating much more protein and while I dislike eating dairy I now do. I still can't bring myself to eat meat. I used to have such a toned, petite body. I am sort of relieved to know this is fixable and not just lack of collagen which is what I was blaming it on. I've upped the protein significantly and am know doing some serious weight training. Fingers crossed. One thing I have noticed is that by eating more protein and less carbs I lose weight very easily. I do not want to get thinner as it makes my face look older and I have osteopenia. Thank you for this video. It gave me clarity on my issue.

I'm 51 & thin, but gained a menopause belly 2 years ago. I recently lost a lot of weight due to the death of my husband. I have gained the weight back & am at what was my perfect weight. The problem is I lost a lot of muscle too, so I look skinny with a pooch belly. I could gain more weight to look better, but it will enlarge my belly more. Am considering "freezing the fat" off my belly even though it's expensive. The combo of menopause & grief have really changed my body. Have always exercised and had muscle - now I have to start over with a strange new body 😱

i'm fairly thin with a bmi of 16.5 and a 25.5in waist but god my belly is so soft and i have this annoying small pooch that i can just never get rid of.

I used to be skinny fat and it's really not that difficult to fix... You just need to learn how rearrange your plate

I lowered my calorie intake and have unfortunately lost muscle mass. My chest is visibly different and I have loose fat, and its embarrassing. I've been searching for more fixes to this. I will take this into consideration.
