This is all so true. I was definitely what you would call "skinny fat" and since February I have dropped 40lbs of fat and gained muscle. Don't expect overnight results and never give up on your goals. Happy lifting, y'all. 💪🏼💪🏼

Great advice, keep in mind you can be 12-15% body fat and still look fat when “skinny fat”. Don’t let this discourage you. This is due to low muscle mass. If this is you, just eat at maintenance and after gaining a bit of muscle, you’ll be at the same fat mass and look way leaner because the fat has a larger area to spread over. When starting out, I cut down to 11% and had barely any abs or vascularity because I didn’t focus on building muscle.

Another tip: don’t lose sleep over missing some sort of requirement or eating too much/too little one day. Keeping up on a super strict diet for months on end is very very exhausting and it’s good to treat yourself. “Treat yourself” meaning one brownie a week, not one 1/4 sheet cake after eating a grape or doing one (1) push up.

Keep up the cardio, eat at a small caloric surplus, eat clean, whole foods, train 4-5 days a week combining weightlifting to induce hypertrophy (8-12 reps) adding in sports training in whatever sport you like. That’s how I did it. It works pretty well.
