In this video, we’re going to talk about bile salts, and I want to explain why 95% of your bile salts are recycled. There is this idea that the gallbladder is not needed. Bile is also often misunderstood, underrated, and ignored. I believe the gallbladder is very necessary. It concentrates bile so the bile can create the effects it needs to.

Your body recycles bile because it is vitally necessary and important. The body recycles bile 6-10 times per day. Your liver makes bile (primary bile salts), and your microbiome also makes bile (secondary bile salts).

Six important things bile does:
1. It helps you absorb fats
2. It helps you absorb fat-soluble nutrients
3. It can help prevent SIBO
4. It helps regulate cholesterol
5. It can help rid toxins and poisons
6. It can help with the immune system

If you don’t have enough bile or it’s not being recycled, here are a few things that can happen:
1. High cholesterol
2. Gallstone formation or sludge (this can cause pain and even pancreatitis)
3. Low vitamin A, D, E, K, and K2
4. Low omega-3 fatty acids
5. You’re not satisfied after meals
6. SIBO
7. Constipation
8. Hypothyroidism
9. Toxic liver

Bile is needed to maintain healthy bone density (considering all of the nutrients are present in the diet in the first place). There is a huge connection between osteoporosis and malabsorption/lack of bile/failing or blocked bile ducts. One can lift all the heavy weights they want and still end up with osteoporosis, because the fat-soluble vitamins (esp. K2) are missing.

Question Dr. Berg. Since bile is recycled, is there any difference in the ability to recycle natural bile vs bile salts taken as a supplement?

I just randomly tried bile salts and felt so much better. I started looking for info on YouTube and found this amazing info. I am sure doctors don’t want to take about it because they would lose so much money.

Dr. Berg, you've explained every things that's going wrong with me. I've had my gallbladder remove in 1982. Ever since then, I've had issues with every thing you've mentioned. What should be my next step? My family doctor should have figured out why I have all these symptoms, right? Who should I go see next please? Thank you so much for your great information. Stay safe.

Im a nurse and I hate when people say they are vomiting bile. This is very rare to impossible. They are vomiting stomach acid, not bile.

Bile is a fluid that is made and released by the liver and stored in the gallbladder. Bile helps with digestion. It breaks down fats into fatty acids, which can be taken into the body by the digestive tract👍
