AC Line Freezing Up? First thing you should try!

When your AC Line or AC unit starts to freeze up this is absolutly the first thing you should try before spending loads of money. These easy steps can definitely help you save money and get your AC unit back working. I thought once I saw those lines freezing up I was going to be in a world of hurt but it turns out that making sure the airflow is good, changing your filter, and let in your unit thought out overnight may be all it can take to get you back up and running. Please make sure to change your filters otherwise we learn the hard way like I did. This is the First thing you should try! What you had to lose?

Oh, Lord! Thank you! I needed another bill this month like a hole in the head! Worked beautifully!

Ice is because of a air flow problem or a refrigerant problem usually. If filter is really dirty it can cause evap coil to freeze and will freeze all the way back to condenser outside.

Mine do this once every summer, turning the ac off for a day fixes it, I don’t do anymore troubleshooting lol

Turn off AC, run fan on, let it defrost NATURALLY. For me the problem the was the filter was too high (think it was a MERV 12 or 13), switched to MERV 8 and works great! SHould be since it's not even a year old haha.

Use a water hose to clean the outside unit even better if you can source some coil cleaner
