My neighbors kid has become super interested in fire making because I turned him on to your videos.
Now I can't get rid of him!!
Kidding!! He's like the son I never had.
We made a one branch bow drill set from a poplar with a fat wood bearing block and had a ember for a moment.
It's way harder than it looks.
Thanks David.👍
P.S.
I agree it would be impossible for me to get on video, but I guess we'll keep practicing.

Thanks for sharing that Mr. David, looks like the the toughest one was the fire saw. I need to find some good size bamboo like you have and try that. All I’ve been using is fishing size bamboo and not very productive!
Please keep me in your prayers for my family!
God bless you and thanks again!

Dave, as always you tackle your objective(s) in existing often less than ideal conditions, and with you experience and expertize proceed to show what can be accomplished. GREAT JOB... During this presentation you mentioned another YouTube channel I can review . Would you please, restate the name of the channel. TY

reversing the process on the fire saw makes it work a bit better. i usually use sage or cedar bark fluff and place it under the bamboo with the inner side down over it. bamboo fluff works fine too. step on it, tie or pin it down. put a small hole over the nest and slowly try to saw through the hole with a lot of pressure with the edge of the other piece of bamboo across the hole. the "normal" way loses too much of the char. the "reverse" way drops a lot more into your nest. make sure the node walls are knocked out and leave a little bit of space under the hole so it can breathe.

Ever think about giving the fire plow another try? I know its my nemesis. I havent been able to get one out of the 10 or so times I've tried. I think you've only made one video on it, and also got the trickster ember.

Hello, can I make fire with the thick bamboos??Or only these hollow and thin bamboos shown in the videos work???Cause that thick ones are common where I live...

Has anyone ever tried a narrow piece of bamboo as the spindle for a bow drill fire?
