still can't believe they aren't in the Rock hall of fame - one of the best rock bands of all time

Here's a lesson in supporting the opening band.

AIC was touring with Van Halen as their opening band and Jerry was raving about how good Eddie Van Halen's sound was and Eddie hands him his guitar and goes "Here, have a go!"

Of course when somebody like Eddie Van Halen offers you to play his guitar through his amps, you'd have to be galactically stupid to say "No." Jerry was smitten with the sounds he got from that set up but also heartbroken because he couldn't afford it and tells Eddie so.

The tour comes to an end, all the members of AIC go home and Jerry's landlord goes "Ah finally, now you can help me move that stuff that has been delivered to you!"

Waiting for Jerry were two Peavey 5150 full stacks and two musicman Eddie Van Halen guitars, a parting gift from Eddie Van Halen himself. And as this footage shows, Jerry didn't let that gesture go to waste.

One of the best songs ever...it's not an opinion, it's a fact.

Such a difficult song to sing but was easy for Layne..

Layne was kind of like Jim Morrison in the sense that he could just stand there in sunglasses and still be as intense as anything

Man...Layne and Jerry. Two of the greatest voices to ever exist. Their harmonization is heaven!

Layne's voice was out of this world for real. I get goosebumps just hearing this on youtube. I can't imagine what it was witnessing him live.

I was fortunate enough to take voice lessons from the same teacher that Layne did, a guy so revered in the Seattle scene everyone just referred to him as The Maestro. He said Layne was among his top students who took the craft of vocals VERY seriously and embodied the first rule the Maestro imparted to me in my very first lesson: "Singing is controlled screaming".
Layne clearly took that to heart and nobody did it better.

the rock band is such a beautiful piece of art.. so often it is self destructing before our eyes. RIP to the greatest rock singer of our generation, Layne FUCKING Staley..

What I love and most remember about Layne, especially… is how sincere and super humble he was, so polite and gentle asf. He wasn’t stuck up and when he walked by HE said excuse me as he passed by with the sweetest smile, I’ll never forget that. It pains me how his precious life ended. He is irreplaceable! 😔🙏🏽❤️‍🔥

Layne looks like he’s having a great time. I’m so heartbroken that I never saw them in their prime. I wish I appreciated them more back in the day.

The crowd in ecstasy, getting carried along by the passion: the most important natural human instinct. Holy cow, this song will be forever and ever!

The things I'd do for that voice, I mean how can someone just be born with such an amazing voice?
