[New Footage/Partial] - Alice In Chains - 1996-06-28 - Tiger Stadium - [2-Songs: 'Again' & 'God Am']

New unseen footage of the first two songs of Alice in Chains' opening set for KiSS on June 28, 1996. Both songs, "Again" & "God Am", have cuts - all the footage I have is in this Youtube video. It's likely this is all that was filmed (at least by this cameraman). Assume this was filmed to be used for television news segments/promotional purposes.

I opted not to patch the missing minute of "Again" w/ just audio, but did patch the end of "God Am" (after the footage cuts off) with complete circulating audience audio. I overlayed some pre-show footage of the crowd/venue to cover the end section for the remainder of "God Am". Also used a short ~10sec clip of a different song (shot from backstage) that was posted by @livefilms1099 elsewhere on Youtube. The audio does have some feedback at times - that is on the source.

Hopefully enjoyable to some in spite of being only a couple incomplete songs.

Happy Holidays and all that....

00:00 Intro/Walk-On
00:36 Again*
03:30 God Am (Live deubt)**

* - (End is cut)
** - (End is cut / Audio complete + pre-show crowd/stadium footage)

I still can’t believe AIC opened for KISS. What an honor for KISS.

Not an ounce of fat on him, legs like twigs, really starting to show the ravages of heroin and cocaine abuse, but still looks stunning and doing his best with the abilities he has left.
The 90s truly was the last decade of great original rock music and Layne Staley shone so bright but so painfully brief. RIP.

Wow. I was there. I remember his death-grip on the mic like it was the only thing keeping him upright. He never moved from that spot. I can’t believe I’m finally seeing this again.

Ugh this footage of Layne is so heartbreaking to watch. He's so weak and so tired, he can hardly hold his small frame up and has no energy. And to think this isn't even at his worst. But his voice is still so powerful and he's still so beautiful. My heart hurts for him truly.

Man… Layne is walking here like a 90 year old.. I almost can’t watch it… I wish he could have gotten sober. Rest easy..

As difficult as it might be for a lot of AIC fans to listen to Layne in this state, so unfortunately unhealthy, I always think this way while listening to Layne in 1995-96: If he was a lead singer of some indie/alt band, his voice, even how it was, would have been an incredible addition, no, would've made said band.
In other words, even at his worst professionally, Layne would have been ANYONE'S lead singer and would have taken them to new heights. That's how freaking good he was.

The fact that Layne still sounded this amazing live even after being broken down by heroin shows how talented he was. RIP

One of the most haunting, yet beautiful voices this planet has ever seen...

8 years ago, I was in a really dark place with little hope. These records along with Nancy Staley’s frank remarks about her son’s death definitely helped save my life. I saw where I was headed having lost 40% of my weight and I just couldn’t bear the thought of making my mom go through something like that.

When I made the decision to turn my life around, I deleted all the numbers I had, changed my own number and never looked back.

If this isn't the greatest, most wonderful gift I have gotten this whole year, than nothing is!

And although my heart breaks seeing Layne like this, and although I can't go through the whole video without tears welling up in my eyes, this being one of his last performances with the band makes this footage precious beyond words.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for sharing this gem of all gems with us.

Proud to be approaching 9 years of sobriety in January. I only wished Layne could have got help. Truly a beautiful human being and missed by millions. Reach out if you want help!

My all time favourite singer... destroyed by drugs. RIP Layne. Insane performance despite the clueless undeserving crowd. They had no idea what they were listening to. Thanks for sharing!
