I fell into a deep and inconsolable depression for almost a year due to undiagnosed Bipolar and body dysmorphia issues. I could barely leave my room, much less communicate my problems. and she took that as I didn’t love her and appreciate her. So she withdrew as well, right under my nose she was letting me go and I couldn’t notice. When she ended things I felt like I was awakened from a coma and it couldn’t be real. I felt this rush of emotion, empathy, guilt, and shame I hadn’t felt in years- heartbroken. Fought tooth and nail but she needed space and I let her go eventually

The break up was the wake up slap I needed to get back to working on me and being my best self. I’m in therapy, going on medication for my illness, learning new physical and emotional skills, building a healthier relationship with my body and mind.

Once I get there, I will be giving it my best shot. If I were her, I wouldn’t have wanted to be with me at my worst. I wish she would’ve held on and fought for me, but I see her side. If she rejects me at my best, I can live with the fact that we weren’t meant to be

Thank you this is great advice. My husband and I when we had our first son (not married at the time) he separated from me and I got him to open up when I showed confidence. Ok, I also wore a killer dress that day 😅 to ensure he took me back. But we still had issues.. we had a second son and our relationship was rocky then good, then rocky, then great - then married! And marriage counseling layed us both a solid foundation. Last year it tested us but we talked it out.. but this year, now now, we're back in a very nasty rut where he's sleeping elsewhere. I know what I was not doing and now as a wife with two children, he knows I'm committed to our marriage and I'm letting him do what he needs. It's a balancing act. I know what love is and how it can be tested and changed and it can fizzle out then come back.
We should have gotten marriage counseling from our pastor last year. This is what we need because Im not throwing our vows to the wind! 68% here in Quebec ppl are divorced in their 40s. Nuh uh, I refuse and will continue building myself and wait for him.
