For anyone curious, the next three videos are going to be in order: Count Dooku, Darth Vader, and finally Emperor Palpatine. Since our patrons chose Maul first, I figured I’d cover all the apprentices of Sidious in order, and finish it off with him at the end. May the 4th be with you all!

As much of a monster that he was, you can’t help but pity Darth Maul. Despite desiring freedom he was only ever a slave to both his Master and his own hatred.

I'd always found it kinda tragic that Maul sought Obi-Wan's death in Rebels when at that stage in his life, Obi-Wan was ironically the closest thing to a friend he still had.

"He will avenge us" Even in his last moments Maul could only really think of vengeance but he also included Obiwan in the "us" showing some growth on his part.

As Maul dies you can see all the anger is gone, and he subtly asks forgiveness from Obi-wan who just as subtly forgives him.

Maul's life is the definition of insanity, he gains power only to lose it but as he tries again he expects a different result.
He lives, someone dies, he dies, he is reborn and the cycle continues until Ben Kenobi.

I like Maul, he for no reason tried to run over a child with one of them flying bike things and then did some kind of flip and that was pretty neat

The final episode of Star Wars the Clone Wars was released a year ago today. Good times man. Good times.

Honestly my favorite Star Wars villain ever. He's like Azula from The Last Airbender; sadistic and manipulative as hell, but he was raised by an absolutely monstrous human being so it's hard to fully _hate_ him.

Maul relationship with his brother Savage was one of my favorite aspects of his character.
And you can tell It was genuine because he showed respect to the Clones bond of brotherhood even after Savage’s death.
Hell, if Savage survived and killed Maul (Sith tradition is the apprentice killing their Master) Maul would probably just feel proud of his brother

I always thought is was a sick touch the way they chose to have Darth Maul’s second lightsaber blade exit the sheath a second later than the first. It goes from “oh shi- to Oooooh shiiiit”!

I love how Ray park was just a stunt man but he brought so much to the Character with very few words, mostly actions.. I love Maul. When I saw him in the Phantom Menace I lost it!

As much as I like Maul, he really has been totally manipulated by Sidious. So much that even after his rebirth, his anger and hate completely blinded him. Sidious, in many ways, designed him to fail, and never recover.

My mom used to say I liked villains too much, so I began to consider their actions more carefully as I matured from an edgy teenager, into an adult. I can still consider Maul my favorite Star Wars character, he and Savage are one of the best embodiments of "Evil is not born it is made"

"Here we see a fatal flaw in Maul"

His inability to take advantage of High Ground.

A villain with a well developed character arch.

“You may think I am evil. I am not. I am efficient.”

7:36 Maul's brother Savage Oppress even says "Can we kill him now brother" but Maul goes "No. Let him dwell in his misery. Take him to a cell to rot."

I also like the way Maul works within the context of TPM as the obvious "look at me! i'm the bad guy!" threat when the movie is literally titled The Phantom Menace as everything goes according to Palpatine's plan.

If anyone got a huge boost from the new canon it’s Maul. He’s easily now one of my favorite characters in the series. His depth is very intriguing and his last words made him out to even become somewhat sympathetic.
