Dooku: fallen Jedi
Grievous: organic being turned murderous cyborg slave to a Dark Lord
Maul: Sith driven by rage
Vader: all three previous villains rolled into one

Curiously, after Grievous' death, he would become a god in the religious pantheon of his people, even having his own dedicated temple. Meanwhile, his metallic skull became a fine addition in Admiral Thrawn's art collection

A lot of people mistake Grievous retreating and escaping constantly as cowardice.

I don't know about you, but recognizing a situation where you're outmatched and getting out of there is a great skill to have in a general.

"Your Lightsabers will make a fine addition to my Collection" General Grievous. Still retaining the trophy hunting traditions of his people and the mark of a villain to collect trophies from his víctims

I love that the entirety of the Clone Wars show needed to make sure that Anakin never meets Grievous before the third prequel movie just because Anakin says the “You’re shorter than I imagined” line

He’s incredibly pathetic in one sense, but at the same time utterly terrifying. Sure if you’re Obi Wan, you can probably take him. But for an average Jedi or clone trooper, the dude is basically a horror villain.

My thoughts on Mr Grievous:

I think he needs a hug, but he'd probably kill whoever tried.

There's a comic book where Grievous finds an abandoned Jedi Temple, filled with different traps similar to the ones he made in his own lair, he finds a waterfall which gives him a brief moment of experiencing the force.
As punishment, it gives him a vision of who he used to be in his Kaleesh body, and that no matter what he suffered through, no matter how justified he might believe his actions are, in the end it doesn't change him. Because hatred makes people smaller, like him, and shows how much of his body and identity he has lost. Afterwards, Grievous escapes and bombs the temple, and watches for hours as it burns.
"For all your talk of power...You BURN just as easily!"
Happy Star Wars Month! I'd love to see you cover Kylo Ren or Darth Plagueis Next!

*Fun Fact:* Grievous, in the Japanese dub, is voiced by Old Joseph Joestar's seiyuu. That certainly explains why he loves running away from battles so much. 😂😂😂

Grievous’ debut at the Battle of Hypori is still the greatest villain introduction I have ever seen.

2003 Clone Wars Grievous is easily still one of the most Badass Star Wars Antagonists to this day. I rewatch 2003 Clone Wars all the time for his scenes. Genndy made him OP AF in that show until Lucas's Team said "He has a cough in the movie" and last minute they added Mace crushing his chest haha. Still such a Beast

I was never into Star Wars as a kid but I always loved this guy's design

Something to note about Grievous and Dooku is that Dooku *despised* Grievous. To Dooku, lightsaber combat was a beautiful form of art, precise and surgical which is the stark opposite of how Grievous fights. And that's without mentioning his signature move of spinning the lightsabers around like helicopter blades.

I love how you pointed out that Grievous was the perfect pawn of terror. It brings to mind that the easiest way to unite a people is give them a “security risk” to their luxury.

Some real Vlad III vibes with Grievous' story. A brutal product of a brutal time and place, responsible for things that would get you ended for war crimes, yet is also considered a hero depending on who you ask.

Grievous in legends is one of the most fleshed out, terrifying characters in all of Star Wars. Grievous in canon is a two dimensional villain who runs away more than he fights.
