How Safe is Kaspersky Internet Security?

⚠️ Any software company with ties outside the U.S. comes under scrutiny. Should you be worried?

⚠️ Kaspersky, yes or no?
Ultimately, the risk is not whether Kaspersky is or has been spying on us. The real risk is that being headquartered in Russia, if it might be forced to do so in the future. With so many alternatives available, there’s little reason to take the risk.

Old allegations get renewed focus in today's climate.

I live in neutral country. I actually installed Kaspersky since I am more concerned about cyber attacks from US and China.

As a consumer or user not from the U.S. or Russia, I am more concerned about the well-documented espionage carried out by the U.S. than that of Russia...

I have 788 days left on my subscription, and am not worried for my own self as a very average citizen without any ties to anything really. I've been giving most major security companies a shot but often returned to Kaspersky after a year or two. And ironically the free edition of Kaspersky is one of the only free alternatives I would consider. As a general advice to consumers looking for something else than Kaspersky I would suggest Bitdefender, preferably the paid version.
Now if I were working in a government organisation, or a major public service company, then that would be a totally different assessment to be made. In such a sitiation I probably wouldn't want to put my faith in any similar software to be frank, but lock down the systems so thoroughly that the average user couldn't run anything that is not already whitelisted. And yes if the operating system is Windows then by all means let Microsoft Defender do its thing. It's not like they couldn't potentially push bad code onto you whether you use Defender or not...

I wouldn't uninstall Kasparsky unless you are working with sensitive data or connect to networks that can affect national security. Then duuuhhh, you should. But kasparsky is the best AV.

April 17th 2023 and imo Kaspersky is THEE BEST AV for WINDOWS without a shadow of a doubt and I've bought 3 devices x2 years and even I keep on getting swayed by Biased opinion and uninstalling but then REINSTALLING because at the end of the day Kaspersky have got everything to lose and nothing to gain and back up everything in external drives not connected to the web BUT if EVER there was something iffy going on with Kaspersky I'm pretty sure that some tech boffin would find out and report back but this is scaremongering and what about all the other countries invading and running amok but just because they are XXX country that's okay ?? I was born in London, I now live in New Zealand but Kaspersky is STILL the best, not because of the price but it's a rock solid piece of AV awesomeness for WINDOWS so I'm gonna reinstall it. However, for Android then I go for Sophos Intercept X from the UK, not because it's totally free but because they give more features then many paid AVs and their track record on Android is Top Notch, but Windows then it's KASPERSKY 100% and just forget about Mr P and his black knight Crusade, he'll end up 6 feet under sooner or later but Kaspersky have a Global reputation to put back together.

We tend to forget that IT is a business whose tenet isprofits thru reduced costs, and we have to arm ourselves with information for our own protection. Even in the US, government can exert pressure albeit under a different process but it is still possible. The enforcement rules vary from country to country; I was warned by the security folks at my organization to buy products from companies who have a good research infrastructure and can be remedied in the US or EU court systems.

What country do you prefer to spy on you?

Everything depends. If you work on isolated machine then you don't need an AV at all. If you have no sensitive data then you don't need it either, you can just uninstall windows. But if you work with sensitive data and need top quality protection, unfortunately for you, there are no alternatives today. In terms of prevention, protection and recovery. Nothing like Kaspersky network, or Bootable recovery tool is on the market.

I would keep support Kaspersky, just purchase the new license to support them .

I always figured that was the most heavily scrutinized AV available. Liked them for that reason pretty much since AVs have been a thing. Then they outed Stuka snek and then I really liked them.

Most third parties malware software take up more CPU resources and have a larger memory footprint compared to Microsoft Windows Defender. As anti-virus does scan the entire storage drive, therefore, giving the company a good road map into your personal data. Microsoft already has access to your computer whether you use Microsoft Windows Defender or not. Therefore, less is more in this situation.

I don't know, but I find it a bit amusing that I should trust Bill Gates' Microsoft and Windows OS more than Kaspersky? Especially since nothing has ever been found against Kaspersky, whereas Microsoft and their products are known to collect more data on users than is healthy.

What is the point I spend 10 minutes writing out a very in-depth unbiased review of the fabulous Kaspersky as someone born in England myself but it has disappeared and I posted it a mere10 minutes ago But perhaps people did not like me saying why should I trust America over Kaspersky Kaspersky is the best and obviously someone in officialdom doesn't want me to say that So I'll say it on my own channel and I shall make a video over the next week and post it to get my message across

Windows defender has gotten better but there are better 3rd party antivirus software available. I'm using the free bitdefender, they were going to end the free bitdefender this year but they decided to relaunch it. The new free avast one essential looks pretty good as well I might try that out sometime. But the best paid antivirus is bitdefender, so don't pay for Kaspersky when you can pay for bitdefender
