In the past we have used Norton and Shavlik in our organization (700+ computers) and with those products I averaged 1 to 2 infected computers a week. We have been using Kaspersky Endpoint Security for the past 9 years and have had 0 infected machines in that time. That makes me very happy as I am the one that would need to deal with the infected machines ! :)

I love that people go crazy when a news about data privacy appears, yet they are using Facebook on daily basis

Frankly, i don't think i would change to another AV. i've been using kaspersky for over a decade and they never dissapoint me, if you think kaspersky was using your PC to launch an attack, you might have to install 3rd party software to monitor the traffic in and out.

I am very happy with my Kaspersky subscription and i'm grateful you decided to talk about this whole issue because i wasn't really wanting to uninstall it. It's a brilliant and affordable antivirus and i feel very safe using my computer because of it

Even kasperky's free rootkit remover is powerful. Ever since I used them way back in 08, their stuff was the only one to really deep clean a infected system

I'm more worried about Google, Microsoft, Tik Tok, Facebook, to name a few.

Kaspersky is actually pretty good, it has good antivirus engine and it has a good mount of options to secure your pc even more.

The "gun to the head" scenario occurs within the USA as well, but the gun is the law and a gag orders. So the NSA can intercept a McAfee or Microsoft software engineer while they are in public eating lunch, and explain "I have a warrant, that instructs you alter your employers systems to spy on this set of people/computers. Comply and do not tell anyone, include your co-workers, manager, boss, or legal advisors.
If you don't do it, or you quit your job, you will be charged with contempt of court. You will not be permitted to tell your lawyer the facts about the case. Will go to secret court and go to prison where you can never talk about the reason you are there."

Appreciate the viewpoints. It would be an enormous shame to lose Kaspersky from the marketplace. On the downside, bad actors so out of control and with a demonstrated history of internet interference, tend to kill any confidence.

Trust me, i never having bad experience from shortcut virus or ransomware even once.

When I seen the title of this video I thought it was going to be a politically biased piece tearing down Kaspersky but it was refreshing to see someone with a great outlook on the situation. I also loved the fact you pointed out any AV could be used maliciously because of the kinds of access they have on your system but also pointing out even in Kaspersky's case it's still very unlikely for anything bad to happen. Great video, subbed and liked!

If I remember correctly, Kaspersky was the only security suite not mentioned in Vault 7 as compromised by the US. So the question is, who do you want having a backdoor? A foreign government that can't really leverage it against you, or your own government who can and will?

*TL;DR for anyone who doesn't want to watch:*

Kaspersky is a global corporation, so it isn't just Russian. It is registered in the UK and processes data in Switzerland. But if you have very sensitive data, such as government information or something that may be useful in a cyberwar, it might be worth switching. Though at the same time, Kaspersky is in a tier of its own and there aren't any equal alternatives.

I use Dr.Web for Linux (which is also a Russian product) and for my smartphone, been using these for years. Kaspersky and Dr.Web have proven their worth over the years as trustworthy and extremely efficient antivirus software. I don't see the harm here and personally think politics should stay where it belongs... Also I am tired of the hypocrisy behind all this as most people seem to have no issue being monitored by the NSA when using American products.

I swapped to Bitdefender after watching your tier list yesterday. Wish there didn't have to be these worries, but maybe in the future I'll feel fully secure using Kaspersky again.
