How to set up your Sketchup Model for Layout

You don't always need to use section cuts to create elevations in SketchUp. By using the position camera tool, you can create a clipping plane, that slices through the model without having to deal with organizing section planes.

In Layout, when you import a Sketchup Model set to orthogonal perspective, you can define the scale of the model on the "Sketchup Model" tab.

When you insert dimensions in Layout it will automatically set the scale of the dimensions to match the scale of the model you're snapping to. You can override this by clicking on the dimension, drop the "Dimension Style" tab, and uncheck "Auto Scale".

There is a way to enter "Model Space" in Layout, but I only use it to tweak perspective views.
